Cannot use PayPal unless I add a credit card

I have my bank account connected to PayPal and have it set as my preferred method of payment. Why can't I buy things?

Check your account details
The following payment methods are currently associated with your account.
Below it should show PayPal with your name
Update the payment method linked to this account
Did you put 5 dollars from that bank account into PayPal when you first created it?
This authenticates it.
After that you should be fine.

PayPal isn't in my payment options because when I go to add a new payment option PayPal is not one of the options.

I use PayPal all the time that is my prefered method since many years. never had any issues or been asked for a card card??
Either you still have a setting somewhere to remember that.

I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ if you haven't encountered it, I have. If it's a problem with me and me only why is it a problem with lots of people? It's not a problem with my settings anywhere. You're just ignorant. This is either a bug or some sort of issue with Steam.

It might be an issue on Paypal's end or Valve's.

Known problem with PayPal. They randomly limits your account or withhold transactions if you don't have a CC linked when they question ownership of the account. Contact PP support and hope they can sort that ♥♥♥♥ out.

In summary:

When choosing payment method, choose Paypal, NOT "My Paypal account".
And then UNTICK the "Save this payment method for faster checkout" box!
That's it!
