Glasses, cup and dinnerware also carry the warning here in California. More or less, everything does here.
"This bag of walnuts might contain traces of nuts"
May contain traces of shell fruits and peanuts. It looks funny, but we just learnt that peanuts are no nuts.
And some people can be allergic to just some shell fruits.

These are cases of dangers you cant see.

Some warnings are there to protect the companies, others are there to protect the customer.

California labels almost everything as cancerous. What else is new?

STEAM is planning on giving people cancer!!! (Seriously)
https://store.steampowered.com/valveindex

STEAM actually put this at the bottom of the page:

California Residents
WARNING: Cancer and Reproductive Harm
associated with materials used in Base Station housing, power supply, and cables
http://www.P65Warnings.ca.gov

Well cancer isn't limited to California so people everywhere Steam Index is expected to cause you cancer!

Might mean it isn't RoHS compliant.

I think what it means is that it can cause cancer because it has materials that are classified to cause cancer.

Though it is true, you would have to purposely lick or eat, and inhale device fumes to be at risk for cancer.

It's lead. The Dollar Tree next to my apartment building has a prop 65 warning.
Macabre May 4, 2019 @ 5:46pm
Most electronics come with those risks, but what it is really about is heating up your body & and ingestion, I don't know the specs of the index, but it basically what people said don't eat it and don't leave the power station resting on your body, if you take it apart for some odd reason wear gloves handling lead pieces etc, laptops are not meant to be on your lap, cell phones shouldn't be on near your head for excessive time if its hot. on that note im not sure how i feel about VR headsets in long term use, and there is NO data as its new tech.

Most electronics use lead free solder so it’s not lead. Note lead free solder is kinda trash though and actually leads to issues over time.

Benzene - it’s used to clean electronics and this there are trace amounts

Plus other stuff. But unless you’re putting your vive in a blender and making a Vive Headset smoothie all such chemicals are stable and chemically bound

Don't give the Blend Tech "Will it blend?" guy any more ideas. He destroys enough as it is.

Wouldn't benzene pretty much be evaporated away by the time the product gets to the consumer? And isn't isopropyl alcohol (not on the Prop 65 list) commonly used for that purpose?

You did leave out that many manufacturers still use wire insulation made from PVC that has been heavily leaded to protect it from self-destructing by absorbing any hydrochloric acid generated by the breakdown of PVC.

That said, Steam Support did not want to disclose what Proposition 65 chemicals are in their products (trade secrets no doubt).

using steam can give you cancer as well to your computer
