You have downloaded the malware from another source. Steam does not have that in the files.
"Steam's not doing that" is very uninformed and biased. How do you know?
All it takes is one rogue employee looking to make an extra buck to slide some code in.
Valve did NOT incorporate a coin miner virus into the Steam client.
But this CoinMiner.GA ?
Figure out when that virus was downloaded and what exact program let it download.
or its The political problem between the two companies ? xD
Because it would have been seen by millions of users and dozens of antivirus/antimalware programs, spread all over the news sites and you apparently are the only one that has this issue.
What is more plausible?
A: You went to a shady site and got a miner installed on your PC.
Antivirus are frankly bullshiting most of the time.
This can be just as well be a case of a false positive when trying to start a game or be caused by some malvert you cought by using the overlay browser.
Click on the explanation link and see what file caused this before jumping to conclusions.
Not a single user since it was in beta Sept 17th.
if they were instantly noticed, they would not work. The whole idea of these things is to be covert. It's like you are objecting to the existence of viruses themselves.
Anything and everything CAN have a virus in it. It takes one action, by one rogue individual to infect something. Once infected, these things can hide for a long time.
It might be super unlikely, but it's still possible.
