And likely a lot more that I don't have the time to find.
AAA games have always been few and far between as there are few AAA developers/publishers vs how many Indi developers there are and AAA games tend to come out seasonally while Indi games come out on a daily basis.
Much, however, has to do with one's own opinion and taste in games. If a AAA game is coming that you are not interested in, then you likely don't notice it, while the controversy over games going to Epic makes them more noticeable and provides free advertising for them as well.
Many other games are also Epic Store exclusives (for 6 months, a year or forever) - games like Borderlands 3, The Outer Worlds, Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, Detroit Become Human, The Sinking City, Metro Exodus etc.
Bethesda tried that with Fallout 76 and some other new games too, on their own platform, but that didn't work out, so they came back to Steam (at least for now). And even though Epic client is terrible at the moment, apparently they're offering better terms of sale for developers/publishers so I wouldn't be surprised if even more devs and publishers gonna move to Epic Store in the near future too.
EDIT: But there's a bright side for that too. Maybe we would finally hear something about Half-Life 3?....
Be late, play more.
Or play them on the ps4.
I mostly play single player games, so waiting for them to be cheaper cleaning my backlog isn't an issue. But for MP games waiting might mean being so behind everyone else it's not even funny.
And because of the very nature of AAA games you can't expect a lot of them to be released through a single year.
It's like asking 'How Many Avenger movies are releasing this year?'
Halo???
Gears of war 5???
New Wolfenstein???
List goes on if you actually paid attention, simple Google search can help.
Then you get the real game for less.
PARADOX INTERACTIVE
-Age of Wonders Planetfall (This Year - September I think)
-Vampire : The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 - (Q1 2020 - January 2020-March 2020)
CD PROJEKT RED
-Cyberpunk 2077 (Launches April 16th, 2020)
MICROSOFT
-HALO THE MASTER CHIEF COLLECTION - (In Beta Now, Release in 2019)
-GEARS OF WAR 5 (Release Not yet Announced)
BANDAI NAMCO
-CODE VEIN - September I think
BETHESDA
-WOLFENSTEIN : YOUNGBLOOD (Releases 2019)
-WOLFENSTEIN : CYBERPILOT (VR Title - Releases 2019)
-DOOM ETERNAL - NOVEMBER 2019
Prior Bethesda Games such as Fallout 76 are also returning to Steam after Bethesda failed to have significant progress with their own launcher.
BUNGIE
-DESTINY 2 FREE TO PLAY / SHADOWKEEP - (Releases September I think), Bungie is coming here after splitting with Activision, citing the need for an "Epic" Partner, probably knowing that they made many people have a mini-heart-attack by that statement, before clarifying it was Valve they were talking about.
UPCOMING 2020 GAMES
2K / GEARBOX
-Borderlands 3 (After 6 Month Epic Games Exclusivity Period)
-Future Games from 2K may or may not be exclusive, I'm fairly certain Epic Games bribed 2K to go to them, since they only have a 6 month exclusivity timer, and not a full 12 month one, it looks like Epic couldn't afford a full 12 months with them. If Epic Continues to bribe them or if sales for BL3 on Epic are lackluster, I expect them to stick to Steam for the most part for future releases.
DOUBLE - DAMAGE GAMES
-Rebel Galaxy Outlaw (After 12 Month Epic Exclusivity - Comes August 12th, 2020).
OBSIDIAN
-THE OUTER WORLDS (After 12 Month Epic Exclusivity - Comes September 2020)
I think those are all the major releases everyone is talking about. I also included the termination date for Epic's timed Exclusives so everyone knows when to buy them here.
Because there are no other stores/launchers besides steam.
I really do not get why people will not buy a game just because it is not on steam
Certain launchers have a bad reputation. One in particular. That's a good enough reason .
