Epic is starting to worry me
Despite massive backlash from their practices, Epic hasn’t let up even slightly. They have financial backing from Disney and Tencent, two of the largest corporations in the world, and a massive cash flow from Fortnite and unreal engine, the former being the most popular game in the world and the latter being the most popular commercial game engine in the world.

I feel like no amount of consumer backlash will stop them getting the monopoly they obviously want. They can just keep throwing money around until they control the entire games industry. I miss the days before mega corporations entered this industry.

It's the kind of realization come to while under the influence of substances we're not supposed to discuss here.

Epic wants to put steam out of a job. They are spending a lot of money to try and corner the market.

This thread already exists, and I believe is on it's 26th incarnation.

I see what you are wanting to say, I'm simply saying that isn't how things appear to be going. You're thinking it would be some sort of zipper merge where the player can dip whichever way they like.

Honestly I'm surprised Rockstar didn't do this with GTA5. They were already shoving Social Club down our throats.
True but i mean we always will have options more so than we do now i mean in our games if it continues. I might be crazy but its a silver lining i wanna bet on
Yup, all existing arguments in that thread. I don't agree that the future would have options.

And why would Epic go with this if what they want is starving Steam of interesting games?

Starving? Epics exclusive of games are so limited its barely noticable on steams library.

Oh, that must be why everytime a new Epic exclusive is announced people throw a tantrum and behave like the end is nigh for Steam.

Epic is trying to buy out every interesting looking title. Pretty much fact.

They ether will realize this and end exclusivity or will accept it snd make our lives better in that regard. Win win for us

Again: Epic are the ones acquiring the exclusive rights. What's in it for them to lower the timeframe? Valve/Steam has absolutely no control over this.

You guys arent reading this right! WE STILL WIN NO MATTER WHAT!!!! We get the game and some even! Yes we have to wait snd it sucks but its a small price to pay for new games every single month when they do this!
What the real problems is when they started to aim game that's already launching on steam or game that already had planned release on steam.

Something like Kickstarter or backed up via patron also another issues to add, while Epic is to blame, Developer also a big problems including the publisher as they're the one who accept the $$$.

Another problem that may persist later is going to be a year of waiting and we got like a full priced games on steam, it's almost like double dipping under the same platform and a game cannot get more than 20% discount on Steam which means it'll be more waiting for some user who cannot afford it.
This issue will not happen if the game released and a year later 30-50% is almost guaranteed for all AAA games including some indies.

Starting from this December the exclusives don't matter, we will be getting those games every month. Hades is much better in December than when they release on EGS last year. Metro is coming on March, hopefully they fixed their bug's by then. I heard they haven't been patching their game. Probably enjoying the extra vodka from Epic's bribe too much

Well yea kinda true. But i dont think we are in the stage of calling it "starving". I mean dont get me wrong here steam get some intressting games like gears 5 or halo games so its not that they aquire ALL the games and even then just for the time being. They can only aquire so much. All i am saying is its nothing to get stressed out about.

You....you do realize the reason epic game store exist is because its soft exclusivity right? If it was hard...it would be the end of epic game store very fast 😂😂😂 they cant ever do full on exclusives that arent they're own game

Maybe....we should let epic do timed exclusives for no longer than 6 months and only on some games but not all. If this happened, we would have quality new games every single month of every year without fail coming to steam. Example
Game 1- epic
Game 2- epic
Game 3- all platforms
Game 4- all platforms
Game 5- all platforms
Game 6- epic
Game 7- epic
Game 8- epic
Game 9- all platforms
Game 10- epic

Six months pass and we get the epic exclusive games AND and new game that is coming out on all platforms or even so atleast the epic exclusive game coming to steam.

We would get a new game on steam every single month just about after 2 years of epic exclusive BS. Thats the silver lining i finally see

because we get to make decisions and control Epic corporation?
Oh hey you're back... felt comfortable that Epic's cloud save issue and preload issues are buried enough for you to post again without having to counter pesky facts? Or was it Epic not actually being for the indies that need exposure that had you hiding from this thread?

nah, took a break from the thread, haven't read any other post since my last post prior to that one above I responded to. Took a peak at the thread and saw that post which made me chuckle so I responded to it.

You do realize that epic cannot do full exclusivity to games, just limited exclusivity right?

That'd be true even if Epic acquires timed exclusivity for every. single. game. If they release a one-year exclusive every day, you'd have a "new" game on Steam every day after a year.

They can if they wanted, did you not know about Epic buying few companines out? But by doing so, they would do it a lot less, due to having to pay even higher, compare to paying for timed.

....they cant extend or make exclusives longer than a year. they can try and it will destroy epic game store entirely. only reason it exist now is because its not horrid but it is annoying. they try doing exclusives longer than a year and its gonna get them destroyed as even with 50 million users on it, it would not be enough since steam has hundreds of millions of users and games still release to only 10 million sales on release date (the most important day of any game). also cut the a hole attitude because im saying what i think, you can go somewhere else if you wanna have an attitude

no...if they did full exclusivity...they would literally go under as a store front. they dont have any power to do it....none literally

And you would be wrong as usual. What do you guys do just make this stuff up? Metro on epic has had a good number of major patches as have all of their games. You guys sound desperate
