When is it safe to buy game in the sale?
I see several threads about people having problems buying games during the initial part of the sales. Have the initial peak sever load died down or should I wait with doing purchases? Dose buying work for people that have purchase games during the sale?

I have a $6 CDN token tried buying $5.99 with the token (making it free) and that failed as well. So I think the token is causing issues
Don't use the token can confirm my purchase went thru without it but I lost the $6 now.
Makes me want to go to Epic Store... that's low.
Do not buy any games at the moment, I'm still getting the pending payment transaction bug as of now.

This may very well be the opportunity Epic has been hoping for, for customers to lose trust in Steam.
I'm still unable to complete any purchase with my points discount. Tried yesterday evening, tried again this morning, no luck. Says first "Working" forever, then switches to, basically, "Unsure if purchase is complete. Keep checking your account/emails."
oh wait, so its the £5 discount doing this?

if thats the case they can shove their discount, give me my damn games i tryna buy already lol
wow.... i can confirm it is the £5 discount thing lol

i have been trying forever to get this work, i have had 20 refunds and been at this all yesterday and all night trying to get them to shut up and take my money lol ....but i removed the £5 discount and it went through fast and easy.... its the discount, dont bother with it lol £5 discount isnt worth the piss take i went through

I just expanded my collection a little bit more. No issues. Though I still don't really understand that summer sale game, I bought some games and don't got any extra tokens so... I dunno anymore (I also don't care anymore because I was hoping to reach level 30, now I'm 50 so I got more than I bargained for anyway!) :)
How did you level up so much?
As Caelus said I can confirm this too. Been trying since yesternight to purchase, but nada.

Either it was an error and at one time "my bank" had a prob, even though I don't use a bank.

As soon as I tried what Caelus said (REMOVE THE DISCOUNT) the purchase went through as sure and fast like diarrhea after mexican food.

same way i did....the badge..... pit stop.... trade every single point for badge..... 10 levels 1000 points, you get like 15000 points, then you get a ton more after buying games, and probably tons more after

my steam summer sale badge is now level 136 or something lol each level gives you a amount of XP per level and it increases every time.... this 130 something levels of the steam summer sale badge i traded in for the points must have gained me like 30 steam levels lol

lets face it, what else can you spend point on?

spend 15k points on £5 discount that doesnt even work and wont process payment? ..... spend 100 points on each emoticon you never use? ... .spend 1000 points on wallpaper you never use?....... or......... spend 1000 points, get 10 levels of steam summer sale badge.... keep spending it ad it goes up unlimited times, get millions of xp from it going up. after this if everyone does this then the lowest level steam users should be steam level 40 at least lol

race thing says it will give like 20k points sometime after for race participation, if that hapens that will get me another few hundred levels of the sale badge and probably get my steam level to level 100 lol

Fair enough, I guess that's understandable

If I understand correctly you gain a lot of points from playing specific games in your library, and when the sales started I had just bought a large crate warehouse in GTA online and I was really focussed on filling it up. Ergo: I've played some seriously long gtao sessions and that was what earned me plenty of points. I also recall reading something of getting a starting bonus but... I'm not really sure: this gp game confused the heck out of me.

Anyway... I used the points to boost my team, that got me tokens. And then I used those tokens to get myself a badge and level it up (30 or so levels) which got me a lot of XP.

I can somewhat validate this theory because today I've played 2 hours of KSP ('kerbal space program') and when I look at the GP page now I managed to score some more points. Later on I'm going back to my gtao grindfest and well, I guess that will earn me even more points as well.

Seriously... I think the approach that you can earn points and XP by actually playing games is a lot more fun than having a "pay to win" approach.

Hope this can help!
Lost all my bloody discounts I otherwise couldn't use.
I have a charge on my CC for a game that Steam says the purchase failed on. In addition Steam refunded two purchases made via PayPal for no reason, tying up that money. I waited a few hours after the sale started to make these purchases, wish I had waited a few days instead.
