Far Cry 2

Far Cry 2

Far cry games running horribly?!
I own Far Cry 2-Primal and have tested all of them on my more than capable computer. Something just isn’t right... Far Cry 2 runs around 35-45 FPS on ANY degree of settings (including any resolution/directx). Far Cry3/Blood dragon runs around 30-45 FPS with the same predicament (any setting change no noticeable frame difference. Haven’t tested 4 or primal yet since I expect similar results... My computer Should be able to exceed 60FPS (I’m playing on 1080p) easily on these games...
My specs:
Sapphire Pulse RX 580 8gb
Ryzen 5 2600
16gb ddr4 3200

For reference, I can run other Ubisoft games like the Division 2 and For Honor At 70-100 FPS consistently (R6 Siege gets over 150 easily)...So I’m pretty sure it’s not a problem with my gpu.
These games are also downloaded on a SSD so I have no idea what’s causing these games to run so poorly. If anybody has some insight I would much appreciate it. Thanks!

How hot is the room your computer is in?

Around 75-80•F. I can monitor my gpu and cpu temps. GPU never exceeds 40-50•C same with CPU

How did you 'fix' it though?

Might become helpful for others looking for solutions. Though since this is mainly on your end and likely not an overall thing you might want to just ask in the specific Far Cry sections.

Most of those though, aren't very well optimized, so i'd suggest just capping the frames at 45 and hoping for the best. Just because other games on unrelated engines might work at 60 or more, doesn't mean any other game on a different engine can do so on that exact device. (I hesitate to even wonder whether you've played Dishonored 2... )
They should run fine with older hardware than yours

I fixed far cry 4. I was searching on the internet for fixes for why blooddragon and far cry 3 were crashing and basically it said to go to task manager, click the services tab, find “TabletInputService” and right click it and click “stop”. Don’t know why, it fixed the random crashes on far cry 3 (still getting the insufferable lag though) and far cry 4 suddenly is fixed. I can play on ultra settings with no stutters around 75-120 FPS. I can’t figure out far cry 3 though and it’s incredibly annoying.

Oh wait you wanted the fix for Far cry 2... well, I just simply looked for a driver update and surely enough there was one. Next thing you know I’m getting 200-400fps in far cry 2. Still stuck on far cry 3...

It’s not terrible, 3 was my favorite in the franchise though and it’s the only one that isn’t working properly :( Kind If agitating if you get what I mean.

Oh I do. I actually now remember how much trouble I had getting those two to run, but that was on a different machine than I have now. I don't think I've tried running 2 on mine, but 3 and such run fine. I'd say maybe make sure that you're using as much of the in-game options to tweak as possible, as well. Sometimes it's just like, ONE item that doesn't work right - particle fx, shadows, whatever - and by reducing or turning that *specific* feature off it could just suddenly 'work'.

software. gotta love it.

Right. I’ll try some stuff out but I’ve already set the preset from ultra to low and the frame difference is marginal (5-10). My machine surely is capable of more than that.
