A general forum for trading?
Hello,

Apologies if this has been asked before. I was wondering if there is a general trading forum on Steam where I can trade games/gifts with others, other than the game-specific forums. If not, is it allowed to trade here or in the Steam Community forum?

I think trading on Steam is limited to game specific forums.

Outside of Steam, this is pretty popular: https://www.steamtrades.com/

No, it's not. The forum Raiden linked is the correct forum for general trading. Directing users to trading forums outside of Steam is reckless and ill advised.

Trading giftable games in the general trading forum is perfectly allowed...if you can find someone with any left.

"Please only offer trades of giftable Steam games, Steam Trading Cards, Steam Emoticons, and/or Steam Profile Backgrounds, and or Steam Coupons. Please do not offer any other means of trade like Money, Non-steam related coupons or items. Any post offering such will either be edited or deleted."

I saw the Group, but the name threw me off since it only mentioned Trading Cards in it.

Thanks, but the forum Raiden linked me to is for Trading cards as far as I can tell. I take it there is no general Steam forum for trading games besides the game specific ones then? Perhaps there are Steam groups in which they allow that as well?

I've used the forum for several hundred trades of everything under the sun. The rules are contained within one of the pinned threads.

Also, other than the game forums I believe it is the only other official Steam trading forum of its kind.

Originaly it was, but it has since become a general trading forum.

So I'm guessing that even official Steam group names are exempt from being changed?

People aren't going to go that deep if the name does not represent their interests. The fault lies with the group for not having an accurate name or with Steam if the group needed a name change and Steam will not grant it. It does not with people being unreasonably expected to start browsing inside a seemingly exclusive group.

The group started out as trading card groups. Since Steam's policy is to not allow group name changes, most likely they adopted that same practice for their own group.

As far as the policy, I frickin quoted the damn thing in my post and Raiden linked it.
I don't know about you, but whenever I consider joining a group or forum, I ALWAYS read the pinned threads first to find out wtf is going on.

Right...which is why I responded with:

"I saw the Group, but the name threw me off since it only mentioned Trading Cards in it."

Of course. The problem is people aren't going to consider a group to even join if the name does not represent their interests. Which is what I said earlier.

You are getting emotional, and it seems that is clouding your judgment. There is no reason to be so angry. if you don't like helping people or taking the time to explain things, then you do have the option of not doing so.

First off, you provided really bad information is post #1 so I wouldn't talk.
Second, people need to do things on their own when given the tools to do so. The OP was given a link and what it was for from two different people plus a moderator.

Shall we click on the instructions for him as well??

No I didn't. I explained that I THOUGHT it was exclusive to the game's forum, which implies that I wasn't sure. A rational being would know that it wasn't a concrete answer.

Secondly, I provided an off-site site that is used by a very large number of gamers to trade. That is a possible solution absent one available on Steam.

Second, people need to do things on their own when given the tools to do so. The OP was given a link and what it was for from two different people plus a moderator.
Not it wasn't. It was only from Raiden at the time that the op said that it appeared it wasn't what he was looking for. You edited your post, and the op was directly replying to Raiden, not subsequent posts (which is what posters do). That is when you started throwing a tantrum.

Again, you don't seem to be of the right mind to be helping people. You may want to reconsider. It doesn't seem to be your forte.
