I'm not tagging everything the same. This is a discussion to see what others think, no need to get pissy so fast.
You also said that Visual Novels are basically paid porn, then ranted on it.
There is a lot of them on Steam, and most are quite bad by the looks of things.
It's always great to see a "discussion" started with an open mind. And the TC not wanting an echo chamber ...
... sadly that doesn't seem to be the case here.
There are good and bad VNs on Steam. Mind blowing, right? Just like there are good and bad examples of western FPS on Steam. Or horror games. Or literally any other genre.
If you want to rant about one specific game, then do so on the forums until you get perma banned there. If you want an open minded discussion, the very first post already gave you examples of good VNs that are very different to your limited experience.
No one has yet given me a reason to buy the ones that are specifically fan service based. Maybe I hadn't specified enough. I'm not ranting about that VN on their forum because the dev is just removing posts and threads with criticism, so why would I do that?
Visual nbovels , much like regular novels, are hit or miss for most people. They are a big thing in Asiann countries though where their writing system allows them to condense a large amount of information into relatively few characters.
This is more or less the same quirk that created the JRPG.
I for one cannot understand how people still buy CS:GO. It's cheater infested, has a highly toxic community, has a despicable money making scheme which is one of the reasons for scamming and all the restrictions users have to go through ... and on top of that it's a bloody multiplayer shooter. Boooring.
