What Steam direct is looking to address its not the root of this kind of threads.
Personally I like 2D and art pixel game as much then the next AAA games for as long then the artistics style and gameplay fit my tastes.
Or we could just buy from another store that gives two cents about what they are selling to their costumers.
oh the imaginary curation that always existed in ppls mind only
For the same reasons your local store puts the stuff thats past the expiry date in the front shelf row instead of the bin:
- they can still make some bucks on it
- they can still say it was a mistake
- they can still say it's your own fault
Why should Steam act differently than Walmart, Tesco and all the others?
Sorry to burst your bubble but there are some truly horrible games on Steam. I've only seen them once in a while when videos of the game show up on Youtube.

Sure it might be an Early Access title but not much has improved since release.
No one in their right mind would say it's a "Good" game. But this is just one of the many MANY horrible games on Steam. I just can't be bothered to find them. But if people actually think every game on Steam has some sort of value you're wrong.
It's much like Xbox Live Indiegames

They made 7+ episodes on that.
yet I still had a good laught with the slaughtering grounds with it's silly characters , planes that where flying thru everything and extremely bad level design ... something you have to see the worst to truly understand how good your favorite games are. :p
I'm honestly gonna claim that at least 30% to 40% games on Steam are so bad that they are not worth your money in any way. Probably higher.
But that wasn't the point of the post. The point was that some people in this thread seems to think it's up to opinion on whether a game is bad or not. When it's clearly not the case.
I wouldn't put it that way but remember the worst software here can be pushed out by one person in a day's "work". The top AAA games can have tens of thousands of man hours in their production. Thus it's far easier to produce utter rubbish than it is to produce a state of the art game so the former proliferate.

In a point noted by Stephen Spielberg (who suggested that people should pay more to see blockbuster movies than independents) AAA games can be far better "value" than indies because the ratio of price paid/development hours will be far lower. AAA games square the corner with far higher sales. But that's an issue. Many indie developers grumble about not being able to charge the same prices as the big blockbusters ignoring that far more money has been expended in developing the blockbusters. When you can get a highly rated four year old AAA game for about £5.00 in the Steam sale being asked to pay £8 to £10 for an indie game with much less content isn't going to sway a lot of customers.
But for scum ware - the games put together in a day - the economics are far better. Twenty sales at $5.00 a pop makes the game cost effective. Some will make that off internet reviewers highlighting really bad games.
However it makes the Steam store a rather unpleasant joke because away from the market leaders with 10,000+ sales and over a thousand reviews you need to be careful to avoid being ripped off.
