Logging in a different region
Quick question my friend wants to game share, I trust him and what not, I know him irl. If I let him log in on my account in another country will my account get banned? As I know it because of price differences I can get banned possibly?

with the new system, i would not know 100%.

but as long as you dont use the account to purchase anything outside your country, you should be ok.

Sharing your account like that can cause it to be banned.

It's easy for steam to catch it when it's shared across countries like that as they can tell based on distance of the log in's vs last time you logged in from the other location.

But certainly steam wouldn't find that suspicious, they didn't find those CSGO bots suspicios till they cracked down.

The problem is this is a security risk and why steam does not want people doing it.

In either case it's at your own risk and is against the rules so don't do it if you have spent a lot of money on your account.

The "no account sharing" rule predates csgo and csgo bots.

Also, why not use family sharing to give your friend worry free access to your games?

Even if it didn't new TOS could make such actions illegal as TOS change all the time.

So in summary, it is possible steam will ban me, but I haven't done necessarily anything wrong just family sharing, (I should've clarified that I am family sharing sooner) and I shouldn't attempt it. I've been talking to my friend we think we are going to create new steam accounts and family share through those.

Family share and account share are two different things.

Family sharing is usually fine doing it like this however there are restrictions in place to prevent abuse that you may not face with account sharing.

Dude. You're taking a lot of risk there. Why not just, you know. Use family sharing to share your games. It boils down to the same thing with significantly less risk

Yeah that is a huge mistake on my part, I meant family sharing, but I have to log into his account in my region

Valve dose not like users doing it, family sharing is suppose to be for the family
On any case as much as i heard if your account is stolen while doing family sharing, and you get it back, family sharing will be disabled, so i recommend to be cerfual abut it any how
Its meant after all for a family not friends
