heres the graphs https://steamdb.info/app/99910/graphs/
atm its 35 players online in all 4 servers together
http://www.puzzlepirates.com/status.xhtml
Just found the server stats. Emerald (the server I play on and seems to be mostly europeans) has about 330 people playing right now.
If you visited Opal, then yes. That Ocean is dead. You can't do much there. If you change to an international Ocean like Emerald however you can find between 200-600 players online which is enough to do everything the game has to offer. Although you have to start as a Greenie again and all your stats are nil.
I log in once in a while to check for the last 3 years (I had bought subs years ahead to fuel my plum addiction once lol) and it usually has about 30 players if even. It is impossible to carouse-no tournaments-maybe a voyage, but if so usually held by a ratings snob who owns half the ocean. I used to hold decent pillages and voyages and have tons of jobbers, acquired the biggest house possible and filled it with pretty things I worked hard to collect and made lots of hearties-All these things are almost impossible to enjoy now. This game was RUINED BY ITS MAKERS AND NEW OWNERS! thanks for nothing...
Not sure what timezone youre in and what afternoon means for you. Never played on a sub ocean and i agree the game was a lot more lively when it started 10 years ago especially if you look at pillaging.
Again dunno bout your timezone but ive been in several kades just this year alone and they were durring different times of the day and every time there were several hundred people playing.
That being said i do agree that there are times when the ocean feels empty and i also share in your belief that its the fault of the game devs or publisher. This game has very passionate people playing and im not sure the devs deserve that because the only things that were done recently (thats several years i mean) were reskins and doubloon sales.
