id suggestno leveling any equipment you recieve thru the missions until you get a brandish sword and the cobalt armor which i believe is 2* mabe 3*.. Also if you can, try knocking out the first 15 - 20 ranked missions so you can get a feel for the aspect of how everything works and you can also choose which of the 3 different types of sprites you want . ( you only get one ! and they are : Maskeriath ( stealthy / dark ) Drakon ( Fire dragon ) & Syraphynx ( healing cat )
I personaly picked the maskerith and today i finally made it to level 90 . ( i htink level 100 is the max)
also if oyu decide to buy gear now or if you pay $cash and buy ( energy ) then id advise you to wait till you know what your doing, because you might buy something that seems like a great deal, and find out later that you wasted a whole bunch of crowns or energy :P lol

So yea good luck on your SK journey ! its very fun, even addicting at times and fun :D if you need help in game you can add me if you want my name in game is the same as my steam user name ( aarongucci ) ohh and if youd like, im in a guild named Altosk and we wouldnt mind heliping you get started and show you around so yea good luck!

I suggest getting the wolver set if you are going to be a swordsman, gunsliner set if you're going to be a gunslinger, and bomber you leave for later. You can buy wolver at the AH or buy the recipes in the hall of heroes (East part of haven), and upgrade the set you decide. When you are full 5* geared, than get the others. Take note that EVERY SINGLE SET in this game is adapted to a certain situation. Jelly set gives piercing defence, divine set gives elemental defence, shadow defence gives shadow, etc.

another question are higherstarred things always better then the lower ones? menaing i should always switch to the higest one i have?
OK let's get this straight.

Level is just like level in a normal RPG. A level 10 weapon is better than a level 1 weapon, etc.
Also, to upgrade equipment that is 3* or higher, you need a certain level: 5 to go from 3* to 4*, and 10 to go from 4* to 5*. Also, at level 5 and 10, armors/helmets get an HP bonus, and weapons get a Charge Time Reduction bonus. However, if you plan on getting end-game gear, most people consider it pointless to heat up your 2* gear since you can upgrade it to 3* at ANY level.

Star level is more like "evolving" or "class upgrade", but for gear. When you upgrade gear's star level, not only do they get much more powerful, they also often get new effects, passive bonuses (like damage bonus or damage resistance), or different specialized types (elemental, piercing, shadow). Many weapons even get completely unique attacks when they're fully upgraded.

Finally, be sure you check an item's crafting tree before you get it. If an item can't be upgraded to 5* eventually, it's pretty much not worth getting. For example, the Searing Edge only goes to 2*. But you can just skip it entirely and get a Brandish, which branches into Combuster, an extremely strong Fire-based sword.

Depends. If you have a 4* sword and a 2* sword, yes, this is the case. But if the difference is only one star, the enemy type is usually more important. This is why aegis is a bad choice: even if it's your only 5* shield, it ONLY has resistance to normal and piercing, with no passive buffs whatsoever. You'd be better off using the 4* Wise Owlite Shield, which has fire AND shock resistance, and not bother with the Defender line at all.

Also when progressing through the game, it's usually better to have balanced gear. There are 3 different damage types, and 6 different enemy types, so it's best to have options, and it's more important to have many 4* items than only one 5* item. Most of all, remember to have patience, and work with a party.

do i have to upgrade it to 3* then 4* then 5* or do you only lv it up to what you want it. say from 2* to the 5* Combuster

You have to do it progressively, so 2* -> 3* -> 4* -> 5*

Torchstones are....idk, check the wiki, most mats are really easy to get, I don't even keep track anymore who drops what. You only need ONE for any recipe, right?

Advanced orbs are 3*. You always get orbs before you need them. 3* gear is for stratum 4. Therefore, you will should advanced orbs in stratum 3, immediately after Moorcroft Manor.

what the hell is statum people keep say ing that but i have no clue how i tell what stratum im doing. i heard others saying that it cost energy to do missions? how do i get to the mooncraft manor?
ItsAll19 Sep 16, 2013 @ 7:15am
stratum is the level or depth of the clockworks - it will make more sense if you select missions then look at the arcade missions - that map showing what's in each gate going down

if I have this right stratum 1 is down to the first terminal - then stratum 2 from the terminal to moorcroft (you get to moorcroft simply by continuing to go deeper / keep playing) stratum 3 from moorcroft to the next terminal and so on.

It makes sense if you're looking at the gate map - just go to arcade and select a gate it will show you what's in it - follow the icons down to Clockworks Terminal then down to Moorcroft Manor... in-between are the stratums with four levels or depths per stratum

Also - missions no longer cost any energy - there used to be a 10e cost for each elevator down but that has been removed

If you want Advanced Orbs, start in Moorcraft Manor (Depth 8) and run Stratum 3 again and again (Depth 9-12)
Hennils Sep 16, 2013 @ 7:27am
do the brandish (i would advise to take the iceburst brandish)
