faust for lockdown, divine for runs/missions

Depends. If you want to kill some undeads, of course avenger. If slimes, faust, etc.
Avenger haves pretty good charge, faust can make you and enemy cursed and have only one energy blade. If you are thinking about getting operation crimson hammer - forget about Avenger.

avenger is best for big groups and faust is better for single enemies

Depends. If u have trouble dealing with constructs and undead, go for the avenger line. If u have trouble dealing with slimes and gremlins, go for the faust line. DA's charge is good for taking out big groups while GF has a bigger projectile which still flies even if it already hit an enemy. If u play lockdown oftenly, DA or GF is fine.

I got a faust a while back. levelled it to 5, put it down and made a nightblade.
a couple days ago i made an avenger.
Oh. My. God. I love the avenger.
Using it, I tried to use the faust again, and guess what? Now I love the faust.
It is a weapon that takes a lot of getting used to, but my god it pays off in the end.
Tip 1, smack, shield cancel, move.
Tip 2, use the second hit only if youre sure it will hit both enemies and only if there arent any other enemies nearby.

I've have both four star weapon versions, and they feel quite similar.

Your choice would depend on what you already have, but there's two things: The DA creates three swords on the charge attack, while the GF only summons one. However, both the Faust GF can inflict Curse on the second hit, or with the charge (this hits a few times, meaning more chances). You run the risk of cursing yourself on the charge, but the damage it deals against Gremlins might make it worth it.

Even if you don't charge, you'll still do a lot of damage with both anyway.

They're equally good.

Do you want a wide spread charge attack, or a strong change of curse (on charge AND swing)? Do you want shadow or elemental? These are the only major differences. I say get both.

Gran Faust for End-game PvP, Divine Avenger for End-game farming ( FSC ).

I use both, because i like the DA Charge, but i also like the curse of GF.

the curse is bad... cause i curses you to, but its nice in pvp if you dont charge attack

It has a slightly lower chance of cursing in you when charging, getting the curse depends on your own luck, but doesnt nessicarlly make it a bad sword, Curse is the strongest depuff in the game
