[SOLVED] My computer's monitor says "Out of Range" for as long as Spiral Knights is open.

Why?

I can also hear the game just fine, but until I hit Alt + F4 to close the window, nothing appears, and my monitor is stuck saying "Out of Range."

it means that the resolution you have for Spiral Knights isn't something your monitor can handle they have a limit on resolutions they can go to the max being what it stats like for example mine is a 1600x900 or 1900x600 so my resolutions for games have to be within that margin no more than that.

Well it's not like I changed a resolution last time I played, so this is clearly something the game itself screwed with. How do I set it back to something that's actually supported?

try uninstalling and reinstalling that should reset everything if that doesn't help then well you're as Vash12349 would say pretty boned.

I'm not reinstalling, it's already a fresh install.

I'm fairly sure there's a way to change the resolution outside of the game, but thanks for being supportive and helpful. /s

I'm currently waiting for my unspeakably horrible internet to finish downloading a game cache to see if that fixes it.

In windows registry:
key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\projectx
parameter: screen_mode

This parameter is a string with 4 values. (For example my is "1920, 1080, 32, 60")
Delete last two values (will be "1920, 1080" for me). Game will start in windowed mode. Then select fullscreen mode in game settings.

PS. Don't verify game files by Steam. Steam will restore very old version of the game and game updater will have to redownload last version.

Where exactly is that directory?

This is not disk directory. This is key in windows registry.
Run regedit.exe (this is registry editor). Keys are like folders (left side of window) and parameters are like files (right side). But be carefull. Edit only this parameter or you can break something in your system.

Guys before you go trying to change REGEDIT please just hit "Alt + Enter" this will window whatever game you are playing and from there you monitor should pick up the signal and you can change the display options normally, before switching back to fullscreen.

Game switches to this mode if you open / close it ~3 times. it's windowed mode with minimum resolution and you should be able to play now (and select fullscreen mode from video settings). Or your monitor has this resolution?
