I can confirm that these two file work around works, but I found another link which said the Two Step Verification is what is blocking you from getting in to Windows Live.

If you go in to a browser and change the settings so that the Two Step Verification is turned off, then the game will work as normal.

If you are worried about security you can install the Windows Live Verification App to your phone and use that to keep an extra layer of protection on your account.

i don't want to have origin installed on my Pc. I already have Steam and uPLay and that's 1 too many in my opinion.

GFWL does not work at all for me regardless of how many hoops i jump through. It's a shame as the co-op/multiplayer in this game was very fun.

You can still play it as a stand-alone, you don't need the steam platform to play it, if you want to gain the features of steam in addition to playing it, you can add it as a non-steam game.

Retail copies cannot be used on steam, they however, can possibly be used on the Origin Platform.

2014 thread mate, Origin tends to have better luck if people want to run it off something than just the stand-alone launcher but this game does not work for everyone for whatever reason.
