How punishing is "general" mode ?
Hello

I was not sure which difficulty to choose and took general mode.
I died in the first mission with optionnal goal (i kinf of forgot you loose when 3 units die, i thought it was only my main character) and wondering how much the 'money loss" from general is impacting.
In addition, is the stats/AI of the ennemies the same ? (it seems so from description)

Thanks

It is recommended that you choose simple mode.
There will be attribute rewards before each battle.
The battle will be much easier.

I'd recommend playing Officer mode for your first time with the game.

I tried General mode on NG+ and found it pretty unforgiving. If you lose like two units on levels that allow this, you can easily end up with zero money reward for that level. One save per level also limits your options for undoing mistakes quite a bit.

Enemy stats and AI aren't affected AFAIK.

yeah, i just saw the zero money my last mission (but with strangely the bonus item)
I also saw i could change once from general to officer.
I might do that

I've finished the game twice on General mode (once regular, once NG+). It had its hard parts, and I did have to redo a few chapters. However, it's a really easy game if you master the weapon triangle... er, quadrilateral, and the game does allow you to grind infinitely. As for funds, I was able to buy everything I needed even though I lost units here or there.

Overall I don't think General mode is that punishing.

you lose money everytime your unit die/retreat, and that's the only bad thing about it. It's quite punishing in the first dozen missions, but later on you can grind for money and exp infinitely. So it's just a matter of whatever you want to spend more time to beat a mission perfectly, or use those time to grind more.
Honestly I wish there is a higher difficulty above General mode in NG+. It wouldn't make sense that NG+ give you all the available characters, including the op ones, and tons of money but no secret insane difficulty to make use of the advantages.
