Lossless Scaling

Lossless Scaling

Using Lossless Scaling disables Instant Replay and Record in NVIDIA GeForce Experience/NVIDIA App
I've noticed that using Lossless Scaling disables the Instant Replay and Record functions for the NVIDIA App/GeForce Experience.

If you had Instant Replay toggled on, it will be automatically toggled off. If you attempted to start a recording, it would immediately terminate and end the recording prematurely.

I've narrowed down the cause to be the DXGI Capture method. Switching to WGC remediates the issue, but introduces stuttering and additional latency (as expected).

Is it possible to work around this issue? Or is this just a limitation that NVIDIA has to resolve?

It is a known limitation of the DXGI, there is no fix for that
Presumably still no update on this? Just started using it today and facing the same issue

Same, just got the app today on Steam and realized I can't use GeForce Exp for recording.

That's weird, because it's actually been working fine for me. I can record Helldivers 2 and instant replay it with Nvidia overlay while also using LSFG. Maybe because I'm using the new Nvidia App which is in beta?
But I have other issues with instant replay where it turns itself off in some games, even without lossless scaling running, and I've never been able to fix it.

It should work if you disable Desktop Capture within the GeForce Experience / Nvidia App

{LS FPS Counter won't show in the recording, haven't figured out a way to get it to show with shadowplay)

Nah, if I disable desktop capture it still just spam turns itself off for me. Only way I can get it to not turn off is if I disable desktop capture and restart GFE while I already have Lossless Scaling running, but even then it doesn't actually work - it just shows as being turned on.

Going to try Revalopod's suggestion of trying the new beta version of the Nvidia app and report back
Okay so I just tested it with the new Beta Nvidia app that replaces Geforce Experience. It works now, as long as you turn off desktop capture. So kind of annoying and I hope Nvidia fix this, but at least it's something for now.

For anyone who comes into this thread later and is looking for a solution 😅

Is the new app better than Geforce Experience or are there any apparent issues?
It looks a bit ♥♥♥♥ compared to GFEs in game overlay and the UI seems clunky, but I haven't had it long enough to notice any issues beyond that

Hi, here is a tutorial video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSNwR4rOgS4

My solution: apply the effect, and while the timer counts down, alt tab to the game, then open the overlay, and click anywhere on it before the timer runs out.
