Lossless Scaling

Lossless Scaling

Am I using this wrong or is Overwatch just ♥♥♥♥♥♥?
Okay so since my gaming monitor broke in 2020 I've been using my 4k monitor at 60hz. Single player games look beautiful but esports titles tend to struggle a bit. Overwatch was great at 4K on low, or 1440p on high - 60hz solid the entire time. Then a couple of weeks ago after an update it just went slow. The only way I can get above 60fps now is if I go in 1080p, which looks like ♥♥♥♥ even with lossless.

So I tried changing my resolution to 1440p and then had lossless scaling at 1.8 and it just looks like ♥♥♥♥. I normally play esports on 1440p and always change my monitor res because I know how great my monitor upscaling is. FSR, LS1 and Nvidia are all struggling to actually hit 60fps. I don't understand it.

Specs: i5-6500, 16gb ram and 2060. All hardware is good, done many tests on it and most other games are running perfectly. I've tried a reinstall and verified files but no joy. Is it me or Overwatch?

The game supports FSR2, why using lossless in this case?

Frame rate is horrendous with FSR2, much worse than with Lossless. It was the setting I was using for ages and then after the update it's been absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Huh. Overwatch should be running just fine on that hardware, especially with FSR2. Maybe something got messed up in the game's graphics options? Might try setting all options back to their defaults and see if that fixes it. Also go into Nvidia Control Panel and make sure there aren't some custom settings applied specifically to Overwatch.exe (or just perform a clean graphics driver install).

I've done all of that already, annoyingly. My next step to remedy is find the dang SSD I bought and lost, and then reinstall Windows on that since it's a big drive. I definitely feel like something's wrong, Overwatch will be on 100 CPU from the first minute it launches. Some days it goes back down to the regular 50-70%

New patch just dropped so I'm installing that hoping it will solve my issues. It's so frustrating because I also have Apex and Dota acting weird, they have been for the last year. Idk if they're adding things that draws on my cpu or if it's my hardware. Done so many scans and stuff and they say it's all good.

You should check if your CPU thermal throttling. Maybe it's time for a good cleaning and repasting.

It was Overwatch, new update fixed it. I looked at CPU temps initially but it's still low.

i5 6500 is old and weak 4/4 cpu
what is usage while gaming that game?

It's funny because it can actually run most games from pre-2020 on 4K@60, although I prefer having more frames and using 1440p instead. It was on 90-100% before the latest patch but now it's between 65-90%.
