1080p to 1440p Best Settings?

I'm struggling a little to figure out how to use this. My 1070 handles most games just fine at 1080p but my screen is 1440p so I'd like to enjoy a non-blurry 1080p image if possible? But I'm having a little trouble figuring the program out. Do I need desktop scaling off?

You need a 4k monitor to scale 1080p without blur.
Setting the scale factor to 1.33 (custom) technically works, but it's not integer scaling.
Run your games at 720p, with the scale fator set to 2, if you want true integer scaling.

ah that's going to look pretty terrible. I guess it's just not going to work for what I need. Luckily letterboxing to 2560x1080 gives me a good boost in demanding games without upscaling.
