iVRy Driver for SteamVR

iVRy Driver for SteamVR

PSVR HMD positional tracking
I have a 3x PS3 Camera and 2 Move controllers setup for my PSVR and it works pretty great.
However, there’s a bit of a problem – I can’t get PSVR headset positional tracking to work with iVRy.

I think I set up everything correctly (I followed both PSMoveService/SteamVRBridge Wiki and Daley Tech's video tutorials). I can see a virtual HMD (ping pong ball with LED) in PSMoveService Config Tool and it seems to be working fine. I also installed FreePie (script) + PSMoveFreepieBridge (for HMD tracking, with proper device IDs etc.), but I can’t get it to work with iVRy (when I move my ping pong tracker, the view/head position doesn’t change in SteamVR).

I searched the internet but I could only find some 1+ year(s) old Reddit posts without any reliable info (only suggestions to use Driver4VR, which I don't want to use, since it's a paid software and buying it just for head tracking is kind of pointless). I also found out that FreePieBridge should work with Trinus VR, but I can't get Trinus VR to work properly @ 120Hz, so that's a no go as well.

Does iVRy even support HMD positional tracking for PSVR through FreePie and PSMoveFreepieBridge? Has anyone here got it to work?

I don't think the PS3 cameras can track the LED's on the HMD, I think you literally have to put a ping pong ball and LED onto it in real life so that it will track it like a move controller.

Yes, I did all of that. I have a homemade LED ping pong ball (in real life), it's visible on PS3 cameras, I can track it in 3D in PSMoveServiceConfig test mode and it should work in SteamVR. However, I can't get it to work with iVRy.

Basically I just want to know if it's possible (at all) to track the headset with FreePie + PSMoveFreepieBridge + PSMoveService + PSMoveSteamVRBridge using iVRy. Maybe iVRy driver "ignores" positional info from other sources like PSMoveServiceFreePieBridge? Or maybe I just screwed up something during the setup.

If it's my fault then I can try to do it again (once more), but if PSMoveFreepieBridge and iVRy are not compatible at all, then doing the same thing over and over again expecting things to change would be insane :steamsad:

The dev is pretty active on this forum, so I'll ask directly ;)

Dear iVRy Developer,

Does iVRy PSVR driver support head tracking/6DoF using PSMoveService, PSMoveSteamVRBridge, FreePie, PSMoveFreepieBridge and a LED ping pong ball?

Thank you for your time
I support the question. We need support iVRy tracking PS Move without additional programs such as driver4vr. Or developers need to integrate the program and release them in Steam.

Ivry, answer us. Can the iVRy track the position of the head or driver4vr is needed?

I don't mind using 3rd party apps for tracking as long as they are free.

You can track PS Move controllers with PSMoveService and PSMoveVRBridge and they work great. However, it seems iVRy can't track (or can it?) head movements in 3D space using free 3rd party apps. It only works with Driver4VR, which isn't free. Therefore, to efficiently use iVRy with PSVR you have to buy another app (or NoloVR). That's disappointing when one paid software requires another paid software to work. It feels incomplete.

Trinus PSVR (another PSVR driver for PC, also paid app) can do it, but it sucks in comparison to iVRy in every other aspect. That's why I'm torn... I don't know which PSVR driver for PC I should buy :steamsad:

But maybe I'm wrong and maybe iVRy PSVR works with FreePie. That's why I'm here asking questions. Simple Yes or No will suffice :)

I agree. It would be great to track the position of the head without the driver4vr.

It's possible to use PSMoveService with iVRy. I haven't experimented with it much as I've had to put the PSVR work on hold while I complete the support for Daydream and Oculus. I will integrate PSMoveService or something like it with iVRy once I start work on the PSVR version again.

I would be willing to donate some extra $$$ to speed this development up.. thanks for a great app!

It would be nice if HMD tracking will work without Driver4VR. I already own 2 PS3 camera and it is wasting of money to buy Kinect and pay for Driver4VR to have head positional tracking. I can donate as well if it speed up development of this feature for PSVR. Thank you very much for great software you have developed!

SteamVR crashes after several seconds if I setup VirtualHMD (with ping-pong ball) in PSMoveSteamVR bridge and launch SteamVR with iVRy. Maybe iVRy conflicts with third party position data?

Not likely, if you want me to look at whatever this issue is, I'll need the following information:

Can i ask what means VirtalHMD? So far i thought iVRy does not support tracking of ping pong ball since freepie bridge input is not implemented in iVRy driver.
But guys, do you use both PSVR and kinect at the same time then? I understand if you use Driver4VR you need a kinect also dont you?

Not necessarily, I use iVRy for PSVR and Driver4VR for hand tracking
