Didn't think to read any of the other threads on the front page about the supposed censorship for a game that has been out for 2 months already?
I'm just wondering why they think it's appropriate to change things like sexist jokes in a game, I mean, if someone is a sexist jerk, I want to know that, it gives nuance to the character even if it's a bad trait.
When you start changing things like this, you're basically changing the way we see characters in the game, which isn't cool imo.
It's all about context in localization. It's about changing idioms and other contextual content that makes sense in Japanese, but has no equivalence in English.
Besides, even if they are changing sexualized material that would otherwise make sense in English, that doesn't mean they are coming down the almighty censorship hammer. The Japanese people are much more open about sexists content than the average American. I don't like it either, but we do have to consider that they have the ESRB and other content guidelines they have to follow.
Thing is, game has been out for nearly three months and not a single person who has played the versions side-by-side has provided any substantial form of censorship. Just some random typos and weird translation quirks. You would think with how dedicated and rabid fans of this franchise can be, we would have heavy documentation of this "censorship" if it as obvious and abhorrent as these sensationalist news articles wants us to believe.
It's just getting blown out of proportion. We have no proof any censorship has happened, and if it has it has been so insignificant that we can't even provide meaningful examples after all this time.
It's a safe bet that a lot of the complaints aren't coming from the fanbase.
Which is an equally pretty safe chance they have no idea what they are talking about if they haven't even played the game.
It's all about writing articles like this for shock-and-awe. It's for clicks. Who needs to have evidence for your article, putting people up in arms is all they need to accomplish and they've done that in spades.
Are you out of your mind? No evidence? Did we watch the same video? Lmao.
The girl herself said they censored the game, they changed sexual jokes to be more "culturally appropriate". If that doesn't sound like PC to you, I don't know what to tell you.
The fact that she didn't say explicitly WHAT she changed doesn't change the fact that she did say they changed things for PC reasons.
So just don't get the game if you don't want to.
Anybody who's played the game since the October release know the game isn't censored.
Except she didn't?
There is no way to know from just what was said during that stream if she was making a generalization about the localization process or if any specific cases was applied to this game.
Again, I point to the fact that no one has found any examples of censoring in this game in nearly three months. Does that mean nothing to you?
Someone clipped an out of context statement[blog.esterior.net] from NISA's Twitch livestream and then started posting them as many boards as he could. Steam, Gamefaqs, Reddit, etc. r/KIA and OneAngryGamer picked it up and CS3 has become the flavor of the week for the outrage mob.
People saying "you've lost a customer" we're never going to buy the game in the first place.
The outrage will be forgotten in a few days.
Well I'm gonna buy this out of spite. All because of futile outrage
How the ♥♥♥♥ was this out of context? Someone on the stream asked how they handle jokes that don't work in english. They answered by saying that they change text that they deem "sexist" and make it more "culturally appropiate". This is the actual context.
Read the link.
Can't find anything saying this was out of context.
I can only see a person who's known to shill for NISA trying to come up with a benevolent interpretation of that they said.
Otherwise someone would listen to this and think this was applied to the entire game, ah ♥♥♥♥ this is what people who haven't played the game are doing.
I'll throw you a bone, there's been one line found relating to cooking. Something about being feminine by being good at cooking localized to just being good at cooking. This line occurs in a side quest to my memory. Ruff, gotta throw out the game and ignore the other 1.1+ million words.
Edit here: btw this line wasn't even meant to be offensive, it was said between two friends. End edit.
Unexpectedly this has sparked discussions in the communities that actually played the game about the surprisingly high amount of sexual, offensive, and sexist content in this game, of which is untouched, like the entire game.
Trails of Cold Steel 3 (English/NisA) is the most sexual and offensive game in the entire franchise which makes this ignorant angry mob ♥♥♥♥ against NisA really ironic.
