CS3 fishing is ridiculously hard?
Fishing was so straight forward in the first 2 games but this game seems so unbalanced?
Is anyone else having mad issues with it? I'm currently at Agria Old Road for reference and i cannot seem to catch anything.. I just bought the 10k fishing rod from the train which allowed me to catch the red perch but 10 minutes later suddenly my 10k rod seems useless? What the ♥♥♥♥ is up with this?

from what i've experienced since making this thread, it seems like the fishing in this game is 100% tied to just spending money on upgrading the rod, which is lame but its been working
I had a hard time fishing too in the beginning, but it got super easy with upgrades. Now that I'm farther into the game though, I find the first part of "hooking" has gotten way harder. Even with all the upgrades the timer goes down really fast, the hit zones are much smaller and move faster, and the controller I'm playing with seems to suffer from some delay between my pressing the button and the cursor stopping. At least I don't lose bait, but that's little consolation seeing as I have plenty of loose mira-moolah to buy more. What is a problem is that I waste a ton of time waiting for the good fish to come up and then failing to hook them.
You'll get it. It's not that hard. First few tries are hard.
Bought all the upgrades for the rod finally and it bumped it up to level 6, now fishing is a cakewalk for everything. Simply hold X button and it catches everything without any trouble. By far the easier than the button mashing of past games.
Must say I'm really struggling with this. Fishing in 1 & 2 while boring was for the most part easy enough to do.

In this, doesn't seem to matter what fish I get, the instant the fish gets angry I have 0% chance of catching it. It gets pissed off every 1-2 seconds and dive bombs to the danger zone the moment it gets annoyed once.

It's the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the series so far by a long shot.
Yes. Fishing is very hard. I fail all the time.

I found a guide that was very helpful on YouTube. Now, I think once you get the hang of it fishing can be a very lucrative past time. I'm making great progress and am farming huge amounts of septum early in Ch 1--thanks to fishing!

Fishing is VERY dependent on the fishing rod upgrades. A lot of powerful upgrades are available day 1, but they are very expensive at the start of the game. Be patient, save up the mira, and try to grab all the unique fish at every watering hole. Unique catches will unlock more fishing rod upgrades, turning the difficult minigame into a very easy one.

Luckily the mira trick with cooking the first recipe in CS 1, 2, and 3 exists... So easy to get enough mira if you're willing to dedicate some time to cooking a few thousand meals.
i Don't mind the fishing in cs3 and 4, i dont think its that hard once you get the timing worked out, but i agree i do not know why they changed a great many things between 2 and 3 some good some to the detriment of 3,

These side games like fishing, vantage masters can be fun and a nice distraction, except the casino in cs4 that place started to become addictive due to the poker table.

i do think cs2 is my fav in the series......

Hard and easy are subjective. I thought CS1 fishing was just fine. CS2 seemed absurdly difficult. Part of my problem was an older computer that barely meet CS2 requirements. Think their requirements for real time mini-games were somewhat lower than what was really needed. But the final boss fishes in CS2 were absurdly difficult if not impossible. Glad that system is gone.
Lower your framerate from 240 FPS to 120 FPS, it's tied to how many FPS the game runs at, I was having the same issue, with 240 FPS fishing is literally impossible, while with 120 FPS it's easy as hell.
Sorry but had frame rate set to minimum of 30 way below either.

Just out of curiosity, are you button mashing or do you hold the key down? I returned to the game after a few months of not playing and had forgotten that the fishing system was different then in 1 and 2. So i kept button mashing the x button and was like "how is it possible that I can't get any fish at all at the start of the game?" then I hold down the proper button and it was easy as heck.

So just curious if maybe you did the same thing as me.

Another tip, when the fish is about fleeing, just let it fall back to halfway your tension bar and tap the button a few times to reel again, it will stop the fish from going to far back and half a tension bar still get's you to reel in the fish with great distance each time before you have to let go again before the line will snap.

I haven't bought any of the rod upgrades and had no problems fishing. Most fish just require you to release the line slightly preemptively just before they go into their anger state. This gives the line time to recover and you can reel in also a bit preemptively immediately as the anger state is gone. Figuring out the timings for each fish isn't rocket science and can be just done live after a couple attempts

See, back when I played this game, that would've been impossible.

Even the easiest fish right at he start, without the upgrades, the around .5 seconds after letting go the fish was gone. It didn't give you any time to do it, your line would be red almost the second it happened and then right after it was gone and escaped.

This might've been updated mind.
