There is no morality system in the game. You could be whatever you want without consequence. I guess they would restrict the scope of it to follow a set story though. Only time will tell. As a Gryffindor, I want to become the dark lord.

From what we know, the game is going to allow us to play a dark wizard. But i'd still keep your expectations in check. they may allow us to be a dark wizard, and have it not affect the story at all, which would make being a dark wizard pointless.

I don't think we'll be killing people until the late game. We are playing catch-up with all of our peers because we are starting Hogwarts late and need to learn magic in a make-up course.

The trailers show Sebastian offering to teach us the cruciatus curse, so I think it's safe to say we won't be able to cast dark magic until we actually learn it.

I'd keep expectations on the "can't use a spell until we learn it, and the more powerful spells may be until late into the game" sort of thing.

Watch the Dark Arts trailer. I'm pretty sure it's going to have an affect on the story.
