unable to start game client client quit unexpectedly

Just updated today after not playing for 2 days. Is anyone else getting the error message "unable to start game client client quit unexpectedly"?

Support says they are having issues, are aware and trying to fix.

It's a known issue, they will likely be fixing it with tomorrow morning's patch.

Something was screwed up in the last patch. Was able to play the game for a short while but everyone's ship name was showing up as "INVALIDIDENTITYNAME" then restarted the client and got the constant failure to launch with "Unable to start game client: client quit unexpectedly" error.

Looks like we'll just have to wait a day or two.

im having issues as well, it keeps crashing on me constantly.

I've also been having this issue, and more. The game crashed in one of the Romulan Mystery missions and now I can't even access that character due to insta-CTD. That character's completely inaccessible now.

So i'm not the only one that has the same isue. For me it crashed when i was starting Borgs quest line i thot it was my newly purchesed drednoght.

for your character problem, you should contact support. they can "rescue" your character. as for the crash: it happens to me too.

When trying to launch the game client manually you get a series of missing dll files - including steam. I presume the association with Steam has been broken in the recent update.
I will try the version from the Arc launcher instead.

i am not even running it through steam. i did test it and the problem is the same wether i log in through steam or through the launcher downloaded from steam.

Arc version also doesn't work.

They stated on their Twitter that a patch was coming this morning, to hopefully fix it.

the same issue in neverwinter. both games got an update with around the same size.
looks like some old fashioned issue :)

then maybe they got them mixed up and released the wrong patch for the wrong game. i must admit however that that is very sloppy.
