Ignoring the fact that Cryptic doesn't read these forums anyway.
The point of making a duplicate post here was to notify any Steam players who may not visit the official forums that the thread exists.
To be brutally honest, I expect Cryptic to completely ignore DQ content because it's not a fan favorite.
I have no idea if the opinions I've seen are the dominant/prevailing ones, but STO players seem have an ingrained grudge against anything related to the Voyager tv series.
The impression I got is that the Delta Rising expansion was just a morsel thrown out so they can said "DQ got content" and they never have to do it again.
The other species are of no interest to me, so I am unconcerned with them.
Fixing them up will not make me play the game more, but if they implement the ones I am interested in, then that will.
Not that Cryptic has a good track record of fixing bugs, there's been one I had to work around because it has remained unrectified in over 2 years.
♥♥♥♥, did I just let slip I have a lifetime account? Ah well.
Too bad, I'm going to anyway, because that's the much smarter approach. The achievable goal here is getting the cosmetic bits unlocked to create those species as custom Aliens. The difference between what you can do with currently selectable/purchaseable traits and what you propose is negligible. The RP community doesn't care about tiny combat differences and the non-RP community doesn't care about ground traits. The developer effort required to create an official species is larger and usually requires approval from the Star Trek license holder (aka pay them money), and thus can only be justified if they put the new species behind a pay wall. This will result in less than 1% of the playerbase being interested, same as for all the other non-glamorous Star Trek species. The ugly species don't sell. Benzites, Bolians, Caitians, Ferasans, Ferengi, Gorn, Letheans, Nausicaans, Pakleds, Remans, Rigelians, Saurians, Talaxians and Tellarites combined account for only 10% of all characters created, and most of those are free. For the same amount of effort, the small dev team could instead create a new starship which the entire playerbase could potentially be interested in, and for which they can charge 5 times as much money as they can for a playable species.
It's simply not going to happen. If you instead aim for something like getting the npc kazon hairstyle unlocked for Aliens, maybe a sympathetic dev will stealthily slip that in while nobody is looking, like they have with other things in the past. If that isn't good enough for you, prepare to be disappointed. The crowd waiting for playable Cardassian/Gamma Quadrant species is way ahead of you in line, and they're never getting what they want either.
Obviously I am a Lifetime subscriber as well.
As I mentioned above, for me, it's all about the traits and doing something interesting/different in gameplay.
To simply be a Delta Quadrant species or look like a reasonable imitation of the above isn't of interest to me.
An additional concern is that Starfleet doesn't really have a mindfighter species (KDF has Lethean), so I've included the only known Starfleet aligned species with these capabilities as part of this proposal.
Yes, I too am waiting for the Cardassian/Gamma Quadrant species, but that is a task vastly more complex then this one, so it won't be as easy.
Even if they make the absolute minimum of faction specific story content (like they did with the Romulan faction), it still requires them to make an entire faction worth of ships, etc.
So if it is approved, it is going to take a long time to develop and implement two specific factions.
The Dominion Faction will also require the creation of the Gamma Quadrant map, which does not currenty exist ingame,
That is why this proposal is easier to implement, no story content or ingame justification is needed, just provide the species as an option and the project is completed.
If you want to discuss Cardassian/Dominon Factions more, please use this thread http://steamcommunity.com/app/9900/discussions/0/2592234299538610057/ to avoid derailing this one.
