Is it even worth it to craft?
I was able to turn all my old crafting materials (from 4 years ago) into modern material, like Cores and whatnot... then I spent an hour Fusing them together into Rank 2 materials and so on. Well, I'm done now. Gained a few, lost a few.

But is it worth it to even craft? I keep thinking as I'm pressing the Fuse button and hoping it'll succeed that "Hey, you otta just sell this crap in the Auction house and buy what you need FROM the Auction house when you need it." It's not like gold is hard to come by. Just screwing around in the game I make about 10-15 a day.

Thoughts? Have you had the same delimma?

You really need at least one character at 400 skill so you can make R9 mods for your vehicles and gear. Other than that, not really any point to making more than one of them do any fusion at all since you can put all your mods into the shared storage.

I think you pretty much just reenforced by point there. By not doing it myself, I can just buy the R9 mod from the store and be done with it.

crap i am reminded that when i choose to sell all of my level 4 mods, (which i had a lot of) I choose to do it in the ah after putting them in the ah, sinse i was selling everything. I had between 40 and 250 of each mod and after waiting 2 days with none buying them. i told zone and trade chat how much and the price i had it for each in the ah and SECONDS later half the items were gone, and in 2 minutes everything was sold. I mean 250 level 4 DEX mods sell out in seconds. i made good money that day

I'm sold. Cause I'm really the kind of guy who doesn't want to do the work myself, I just want to buy what I need when I need it.

Ok.. so.. go buy R9 mods from the "store". Enjoy doing that at your level where you weren't sure what fusion was. I'm sure you have tens of thousands of globals just lying around to spend on R9s... lol.

Well no need to be snarky, we're just talking here. The store I referenced was the auction house, and I've done some research since that comment and found 8's and 9's are near impossible to find. You can find plenty of 5, 6 and some 7's, but not so much the higher end model. All I was getting as was a discussion as to whether or not me hitting the Fuse button myself was worth my time and effort. What I ended up actually doing was selling everything 5 and below, and I'm still standing by the idea of buying what I need when I need it from the auction house. The price increases beyond exponentially past 5, so I figured I'll top end at 6's and just call it "good enough". I don't need to be the master of equipment, I'm not rich and I don't pretend to be. :)

I think what he said is that you only need one character at max (400) crafting level, any characters beyond that don't need to craft if you have a shared bank. Having that crafter available will allow you to make cheaper mods for yourself, and sell the extras for bonus globals/keys instead of them rotting in your backpacks/bank taking up space.

You need that crafter available to not short yourself out of your maximum potential by waste of catalysts/mods.

By more than one I think he meant characters, not mods themselves. Since it takes 12 rank 9 mods potentially to fill out your mod slots just for your gear, and another few slots for your vehicle, too.

So, I was responding to that.

There are R9s on the AH from time to time.. generally they are the ones that are easy to make and that nobody really uses. Every so often you'll see a dex armoring on there for like 3-5K. Pretty cheap considering the time and resources it takes to make them.

Oh, and I saw a R9 vehicle mod on the AH for 10K a couple weeks back. Actually it was 9999 globals. Again, pretty cheap.

As for Champions Online, crafting is both easy and difficult. Let’s start with the easy part. Raising your crafting skill isn’t too hard to do and crafting components are easy to find (even though they tend to have bad guys close by). Researching items is easy as that you can just click and drag onto a crafting table. Creating an item is easy too. All you have to do is click on the blueprint and you’ll see right away if you have enough components to make the item. The difficulty with crafting in Champions Online begins with deciding on what profession to take. Each profession focuses on specific stats, so it’ll help you to choose carefully. In my case, my hero uses Munitions, which relies upon dexterity and ego. Checking with the craft trainers gives you breakdown on which stats are affected by each school and by slot (offense, defense, and utility). Offense in science has dexterity rated number one, so that’s a good one to pick. Ego, however, is a tertiary trait for this school, while it’s a primary one for mysticism utility. One profession is good for one of my stats, but not both. To maximize the bonuses from crafted items, I’ll eventually have to take two different professions and max them out.

Overall, crafting in Champions Online is rather straightforward (if you read all the details from the trainers) and does offer a few perks along the way. However, those perks are really few and far between and I found myself not really caring about raising my crafting at all. The blueprints I could buy for new items seemed to be about the same power level as the gear I had already acquired from defeated enemies and completed missions. Outside of gaining a bonus on your primary stat, crafting seems to be pretty much a waste of time, in my opinion. Feel free to disagree, as I assume a lot of you will, but I believe that you don’t get much out the time you spend to work on crafting.

Is any of this still relevant? I thought blueprint crafting was removed from the game entirely.
