This is the way the Onslaught system has been since it was implemented and the devs don't seem to be interested in changing that (or looking at OV's whatsoever for that matter). At the end of the day, the aim of the heroes is to bring down the villain and the easiest way to do that is with a turret.
I used to think that we are a community and should be helping each other, but have come to realise that as with most online communities a majority of players will only looking out for themselves.
If you want to go the hero defeating route, I'd recommend joining an SG, otherwise it's much faster and more reliable to just hit the OV targets.
If you want tokens tell ppl that you go passive after X [X= how many kills you need to complete], cause that way you actually promise them that they get something back in return.
Somebody just telling he wont be passive, honestly I don't waste my time with either.
My first 10k Vllian tokens came fairly easy and I only did this recently.
Because the players who volunteered to assist were relatively common.
It's only when I decided to go for a second batch of 10k Villian tokens that I encountered the scenarios described above.
@galadon3
I tried modifying the message to state I would go passive after my hero defeat quota was met.
It made no difference, nobody arrived.
In the end, it's the players who are losing out here, not me.
I get my Villian tokens regardless, but they won't get Guardian tokens if I don't co-operate or participate.
@The Kawaii
In my personal experience, if enough players show up and agree to be defeated, I'll make my quota extra fast.
And then they get whatever time I have remaining before diving to earn some Guardian tokens by attacking a passive OV.
If you are still considering defeating players it's also worth checking if there is a Cosmic up somewhere before you start your Onslaught. Comics will take anywhere from 30-60 people away from MC which can make a big impact on how many people respond to your call out.
I've never figured out how to hit all the targets in the time allotted, mostly because I keep having an accidentall fall while using Grond's superjump that saps his health.
Which makes me loathe to use it, as I don't want to deplete health unncessarily and therefore, slow to travel across the game.
To be honest, I'm wishing they never added Cosmics, because even when they're not active, it's too much of a distraction.
I have a cosmic monitoring channel active in my chat screen and it seems what players do is spend three hours online waiting for a cosmic battle to be announced.
Three hours in which they could actually be playing the game!!!!
As much as I love Grond, I think Medusa is the best for hitting the targets. I'm going purely from memory so this might be slightly wrong, but the general strategy is:
- Stand at max range
- Use Lance Rain
- Use Power #4 (Whatever the other ranged power is called)
- Wait at max range for the power armour to come to you. Before it can reach you Lance Rain will have recharged.
- Use Lance Rain again
- Move in and quickly use your melee power (#2)
9 times out of 10 this will net you an easy power armour kill without taking a single point of damage. I've cleared 8 targets and got my 50 tokens whilst only taking ~200k damage quite easily.
I have my own techniques for minimizing damage with Grond:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1505984613
1. Jump around, it's harder for the UNTIL Defender to lock on.
2. Put enemies between Grond and the UD, they'll fight them temporarily, giving a chance to damage them without being attacked.
3. Vertical Displacement. The time wasted flying up to Grond's level is extra time to damage to UD without being attacked.
I've sometimes used all of these in combination.
The health I lost at the beginning of the video was the only health lost, he still had that level when he was finished.
Of course, results may vary depending on circumstances.
It doesn't always work this effectively.
