The game doesn't take into account gender when generating partners. There should be a 66.666666666666% chance that the person would end up with a partner that's Non-binary or the same gender, with only a 33.333333333333% chance for to be the opposite sex. So in all likelihood it's more plausible to be gay

Well, not gay, per se. There is a 33% chance to be gay/les. Straight is being attracted to one that is not your gender, which nonbinary can fall into. so actually, there's a 66% to be "straight", if we're speaking purely technichally (but i get that some people think of straight as ManXWoman which isnt exactly correct, but it is what is is) Considering the fact than nonbinaries are outside of the binary spectrum, though, let's just consider these as three different sexualities: Homosexual, Skoliosexua, and HeteroSexual. There is a 30% chance for a male or female to be either of these. Nonbinaries, however, would be considered homosexal or Skoliosexual if their partner is nonbinary aswell, and would be considered straight if they had a male or female partner. So, binary people have 33% chances to be straight, homosexual, Or skoliosexual, while nonbinary people have a 66% chance to be straight and a 33% chance to be Homosexual/Skoliosexual. but i do see your point, perhaps rephrasing to "It's more plausible to be queer/lgbtq+"

1. bait post. you wont get any clown awards. at least not from me :griefer:
2. there is literally already non-binary people in game but you dont know that because you arent genuinely interested in representation
I mean things such as pride flags/streets. It would fit in with the environment
A universe where that sort of thing is so normalized would not have the concept of pride to begin with, and would take away from the atmosphere of the game as a corporate dystopia.

I have doubts you can say that about real life even, rare genetic disorders cause babies to be born with both sets of sexual organs; so that "theory" is debunked.
It's a rare condition, it's called intersex. Clearly you can be born with two heads as well, is it normal? No, because it's a rare condition. I don't believe that a female born a female can become a male, or a male born a male can become a female.
Expanding on this, I would add that in a wide amount of intersex cases, there is still a dominant sex in the individual, and the person in question typically falls into the binary later in life anyway. Doctors know what they are doing. There is a lot of special care that goes into making the process of birth as smooth as possible, as well as ensuring the baby is as healthy as possible. This includes not assigning, but *identifying* the sex of the child at birth.

apparently saying that you should be yourself and just have respect for everyone being theirself and that these kind of groups are creating polarization in society is racism/discrimination nowadays.. I received a warning for my post literally saying that you should just be yourself and stop polarizing society with all kind of groups.. GG steam moderation :/

I feel like it's an interesting idea to go make a thread asking if there is LGBTQ+ representation in a game on a steam forum, for a game that litterally features zounds of non binaries and non straight NPCs.

But i am guessing the point of this thread was more to garner some attention and some reaction rather than discussing anything substantive. I did like the appreciation someone made that the world of shadows of doubt is not comparable to our own when it comes to gender biases and norms, and that thus it makes no sense applying our political and societal considerations to it and comparing 1 to 1.

I personally don't really see the sense in symbols of LGBTQ+ pride in a world that seemingly has never known any gender normative oppression and does not at all discriminate or judge non cis NPC. I think it's a somewhat refreshing idea to have nonbinaries feature so heavily in a game, although i am not always sure how much the current implementation gets it right and avoids it getting in the way of gameplay sometimes.

Beyond that, i think this thread is rather asinine. /shrug

As all other games who support or promote LGBTQ+ agenda did, this game the very least it can do is putting a LGBTQ tag on the store page on steam for transparency and to make others well informed about the sexual orientation content inside the game, not doing so really gives bad impression that they are deliberately hiding it but it's so obvious since half of the NPCs in the generated worlds are inexplicably LGBTQ or Non Binary which doesn't reflect the real world situation especially in the 80's but whatever I guess... it's a strange and unexplained behavior to shove it without saying anything as all other known game developers did.

I can't recommend the game bcz of this, it's essential to inform your player base and potential buyers before getting committed you only start noticing it after the 2 hours have passed and you can't refund if you disagree it's an immersive sim after all..

I don't know about all that but I do find that having 'non binary' as a potential option in the 'sex' category to be annoying because in the context of the game it's meaningless. You're a detective looking for a murderer, you're only interested in the details about these NPCs because you want to know how to identify them. They have no personalities that could be elucidated with that info so it's essentially the same as leaving the ???? there.
