I can't really answer your other questions, I'm not good at lore stuff.
You can read some info about the game on the official website:
http://madmind-studio.com/index.php?option=com_sppagebuilder&view=page&id=17
And you can play the Prologue for free here:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1344350/SUCCUBUS_Prologue/
I'll have to look for videos for prologue, I'm not really interested to play it. (at least yet)
I hope a dev will pass by to answer though XD
There's a fandom wiki for the game with some more information, maybe you can find some answers there.

I'm glad it's not only me... I didn't unlock the full comic either in Agony.
The lore is truly confusing because we know close to nothing about our characters and the martyrs who do know you refuse to tell you anything but they keep saying it's your fault and all... Calling you Nimrod or Amraphel or "the king".
You learn you made a pact but you don't exactly know with who? (presumably with the dark lord who would be baphomet?)
But everybody keeps mentioning you were meddling with the red goddess.
And even by the end of the game, you still know close to nothing about Agony's universe and what happened before (and what happens after). Having many endings which don't explain much either is also confusing as you don't know which one is "the real one" and if each of those ending imply the red goddess succeeds to invade earth.
There is a story between the red goddess and baphomet / the dark lord but it is unclear what happened. The dark lord was ruling until the red goddess came but at the same time, there is a war between the two preventing each one from taking full control of hell?
Why does the red goddess want so much to invade earth? Is it because of the dark lord? What her purpose really is, is unknown.
Watched a couple video about the lore but doesn't look like people really know or understand it.
Yes, she went through a slight redesign and you'll be able to customize her appearance in game.
"Why doesn't she have wings?"
According to the Steam page description, Baphomet and his army must have gotten to her and tore them off on their quest to kill Nimrod.
"What ending for Agony is canon?"
Presumably the normal one (Nimrod goes back to Earth only to die again and the Red Goddess is free to bring about the rapture) and the queen ending (Vydija gets her wings) and the golden ending (Nimrod becomes king of Hell). From what I can tell, Nimrod goes back to Earth, is killed immediately after, and has to go back through his journey again, but this time he's more savvy and is able to collect some special garments of Adam and officially become king of Hell in the Red Goddess' absence. Some time before that, Vydika completes a ritual that would allow her to get wings, and because she sort of helped Nimrod on his journey, he decided to make her queen of Hell.
"Is Nimrod human?"
Nimrod was a human being, a mighty hunter according to the Bible (fun fact, this is what Bugs Bunny was referencing when he called Elmer Fudd 'Nimrod', but people didn't know who that was and thought the name was supposed to be an insult) and presumably had the tower of Babel built. Upon his death, his soul was sent to Hell and you play as him on his journey to escape in Agony.
So you can think of it as he was a prisoner who went on to become the warden.
"Action vs exploration?"
Looks like it will be mainly action. There will be some sort of hidden areas to go to that have more action and maybe some special weapons, but I don't think exploration will play a big part in the game.
"Will the level design be twisted."
Considering that there's no jumping, it's unlikely the game will have the sort of twisted design that Agony did. They basically scrapped everything and built the movement from the ground up with this game because the movement in Agony was very clunky.
"Will we know more about what happened in Agony?"
Presumably. In the demo there's a creature codex that gives more insight into the history of the various demons. That Shade character seems to know a lot of things and will likely present some lore, though from a biased viewpoint. It's unknown if there will be other non-hostile NPCs to talk to, but we will surely find out when the game releases.
This was much needed !
You gotta look for Subverse too XD
