New generations from 10 yo to 20 yo will just ADAPT their videogame passion of what is in TREND in those years. So for all of them a game like this is totally an old sh1t.
Infact the average age of GC players i'm sure is around 25-35, because we are all nostalgia cows.
Or atleast all the players i've asked age, is always MINIMUM 20, very rare , always 25+

It is even losing much players
Why?
- #1 game is old
- #2 they're implementing updates that is causing current players to leave the game (Harrier debuffs in PvE and that cursed PvP update)
- #3 game is not trendy. As Leyfon said, younger audience would go to trendy games than this game.
- #4 they lack advertisements
- #5 they are seeing this as a cash cow. (Why re-release a closed game again? Remember Wow classic?)
Some will return but just for a day (1 hour at most) for reasons like login events and just that. They won't play for the whole day.
I see KOG getting money from this game, but it is somehow weird what they are doing regarding money making strategies; I mean, I would love Black Elia accesories for example, and for some reason they decided not to include those accs in the anniversary (and many people were waiting for it as I have read). So... what are they doing to earn money exactly, besides gacha? To me it's pretty uncertain. Fortunately, I couldn't care less about them making money given what they have done after an entire year.
I think KOG should improve in some aspects to not only maintain the current player base, but try to engage new players. For example, I think they could engage old players by publishing a road map or planification for the season/year/whatever period of time they would take to implement stuff. To me it seems that it could be more engaging if you know that from this moment to 2 months Grand Chase is going to have a new character or something alike.
And what about new players? Well, revamp the game completely, or at least some key features of the gameplay, but idk anymore tbh.
At least, by my side, I am going to play the game as far as I enjoy it, and the current events seem decent enough for me to play the game throughout the day.
and a game that consumes a lot of time.
you are required to get the character collection bonus to progress in the game faster and also to prevent the players from kicking you out of the party because you have a "weak" character.
thing that ends up making new players play with characters they don't like.
summary: grand chase is not at all friendly to new players
Basicly the concurrent players should be going up in avg for say for sure that we are getting new players. It's also true that if we see that concurrent players go down by a big numbers we can know that we are losing players (like happen the first month), but we are in a point that concurrent players is almost constant, so that could mean players play less but we get new players that maintain the play time. That people that start play leave... etc. Right now the only that can give a answer to this is KOG, and then comes the question if you trust them.
Basicly any answer be postive or negative is well something that want give the opinion not a fact.
This game targets on old players who played the first version on their childhood and have nostalia about it.
The game is totally outdated for nowadays. That's why who never played or heard this game before, don't wants to play GCC.
Gameplay mechanick is outdated. I like full keybord and use direcional keys but let's be honest: this is something form 2000's. New generation don't like this gamestyle
Genre is outdated. Nobody has patience (or free time) nowadays to Grind games that forces you to play daily during months to build a character.
Graphics are outdated. Graphics from 2000's lmao. New generation players who see a screenshot from this game will laught at imedially.
UI outdated. Games Nowadays has a clean interface with tiny icons. GCC's UI is so big that makes mobile games jeoulous lmao.
The game has no voice actiong on storymode, something that become basic in every game since 2010. And this is importante cause it's an anime style game. Every single anime style game released nowadays has voice acting. New generartion CARES about that.
Those are some things that makes new players run away from GCC. This game was never aimed for new players. It's just for old people (30 years old+) who played this game on their childhood and want play again for some minutes to feed their nostalgia.
This game has a very good original character design. And every jobs, change characters appearances too. The reason why I love playing GCC than Genshin Imp. ,'cause I can play and interact with real people, you have to trust your team, you have to play teamwork, their is fun, can chat/talk and bonding than playing a game that can finish dungeons or boss by yourself w/o any help from other players (even it's online ). And received boring/unexciting rewards. (Don't bash me, I'm not insulting GI, not playing that game more than 2 hrs. just used it for references purposes) And GCC's rewards this previous events are more exciting and overwhelmed than that game. You have to work hard to be strong, something motivates the player to play more. And look at this indie small game developers, they can make a better game than this like horror indie, etc. I'm not insulting the game either.
But yeah, the game don't acquire new players, just dummy accounts as Tenri said, it focus only on old players. KOG, we're not living in early 2000's, you'll not drop the game but improve, maybe I'm saying this too easy, but their are people, companies and fans will support you. It's a gamble.
Start advertising, like maybe art contests, since their are so many lovely artists.Or commission popular artists and they'll promote your game. Promote streamers, many streamers stream your game for free! Lessen the servers so all players gather together, and open another server when it's full only. Fix PVP. Hire players/guild to help new players for fast level/ farm/grind. (Maybe promote guild and GM's in return. ) You know something that help activity active again.
I love GCC so far, not because of the reward, somehow, how they listen. And I'm looking forward the game. I hope this game gain new players. (cross fingers)
I like your attitude towards GCC, because mine is the same most of the time. I like the characters, their designs, their gameplay, and so many other things that make me keep playing. I don't know when KOG will put hands on the community and start developing that aspect of their game. As you say, it would be awesome if they support streamers or any content creator from GC because, as I see it, it's a very engaged community. Or maybe they can take advantage of systems that are already in the game and polish them a little bit, such as guilds, hero dungeons, or the same normal dungeons. Idk, if KOG gives the game a game changer feature, this could motivate me to play forever tbh, but only time will tell, and we don't know any of the plans that KOG has for the future of this game sadly.
just forget about any improvements we're here for a year and only seen things getting worse by the day and they don't give a damn
I saw this guy post his UI/UX design of waiting room video in videos/artwork tab. He did great! I'll hire him immediately if I'm the director of the game. It's detail, simple, clean and polish. You can see who's ready or players' enter the room slot while checking your inventory. That's game support! That's brilliant idea. I hope they'll hire him. (Cross finger )
