GrandChase

GrandChase

Grand Chase "Classic"?
I played this game a bit when I was younger, was kinda shocked to see this pop up on the Steam front page, with the subtitle "classic". I do have some fond memories of it but the reviews look negative or strange, and I can't find any clear information.

Is this a new release of some kind? Is there some kind of major update? Most importantly, is the game good for casual play?

"New"-ish, every bit of content minus some few outliers are included, characters balanced out(for better or for worse in some cases), we actually have one brand new character in Decanee(at the seeming sacrifice of one old one). Two new continents, both endgame but they exist for when you are ready for them(though one at the moment only has one stage)
It's the GC from the old days, but somewhat modernized.

As for if it's good for casuals, in my opinion, no. This game is very grind heavy come endgame, dailies go back quick but a lot of the daily rewards can be bank shared so the game expects you to grind on multiple characters, each character provides a passive buff for your whole account when capped, certain materials to perfect your gear are at a low drop rate and require lots of fast grinding and lots of luck.

It's "easy" to access, but the grind can and WILL get monotonous. Do with that what you will.

To answer your questions:
1. No and yes. It's not new, it's a re-release of the old Grand Chase you know of, hence the name "Classic". (If you didn't know GC re-released as a mobile game a while back with a different playstyle, but bears the namesake.) But also yes it is new because they've made a lot of changes to the game that it doesn't feel exactly like the old game. It feels like they took a step back and rethought the direction they wanted to take it, and have already rebalanced every character, added a new one, and added some new areas and mechanics and systems in place.

2. As said above^ Lots of new updates have been released and new ones on the way.

3. A lot of people will tell you it's not for casuals, but I'm a casual, so yes. There is a sort of grind in the game to get what you want in the end game, but you are by no means required to do it daily if you don't wish. A casual may not get everything as fast as someone who plays it religiously and exclusively, but that can be said for many games especially MMOs. You have 20 characters to level and play with, feel free to play how you like solo or with players.

To give you more info on the negative reviews, the negatives are mostly people unhappy that KOG re-released the game after shutting it down years ago, thinking that it's a giant cash milking scheme, but really they've toned back the P2W stuff far more than it used to be ages ago. It's not required to buy characters anymore, it's not required to buy skill keys for the Skill Trees, or pet attacks. It's not required to buy gear to advance. You can play the whole game free and enjoy it on any character you like.
The biggest negatives I've seen is that the players who played before think they should get reimbursement for the money they spent in the past iteration of the game, but I mean. That's just being ticky. I'm just happy the game is back.

Thanks, based on what you guys are saying I'll probably give it a try. It always sucks when games like this just get discontinued and become unplayable, so I'm glad to hear it came back.

Play anyway, the player count is admittedly low, but that's the territory for such a niche genre of MMO that is honestly dying out. Though to give a suggestion, 100% join a guild or find friends to play with, it makes every aspect of the game much more palpable.

Esse nome ''classic'' ta feião mesmo, o jogo está literalmente começando uma nova saga e mesclando com o mobile, deveria ter outro nome.

Agreed, can be much more fun with friends. I wouldn't call it a niche genre though, the only reason the game is dying out is because people associate the company with negative light now. Too many people are unwilling to leave the Private servers now too, since the game's been gone too long and people already carved out their own in those servers. The only people who were willing to leave those servers are the people willing to forgive KOG for shutting down the old server in the first place. (Like me!~)

I remember back then PvP was a huge requirement to progress, and that turned me off given the archer back then (green hair, long forgot any of the character names) was completely cheap to use.

I'm reading they did some rebalancing of the characters, but did they make PvP completely optional or is that still a requirement to do any progressing?

...I may try it out though... got some mix memories of the game back then when it was under NTreev (along with Trickster Online--that game had it's own balancing issues.)

PvP is not needed to progress (and it's pretty dead. you play against the same players everyday). Enjoy the PvE :)

to tell you the truth it is okay for casuals, the only problem is the heavy p2w in the game, you people who use dolar as oficial coin don't even know half the headaches this thing causes for who wants something like one visual. for exemple, for you it's just like 10$, for me its half my salary, like men i gain 1000, for the mere chance to win a parte of the visual i want (love serpion and aslan), they have 0 price regionalization, well the privates are better anyways.
