Jokes aside, Uno is probably not going to be released in GCC.
That has been debunked over and over. There was no legal liability with the character, there was just some drama with a promotional image of him. Games reference other media all the time and GC has references all over the place.
Does that really matter at this point? because i would rather have a new character, then one that got the game shut down in the past. And if they gave us the actual Uno, then GCC
would most likely shut down as well. And it's all because the fans want a character that KOG doesn't wanna release due to obvious legal reasons.
When has that been debunked? Source?
I've never seen it debunked once.
Just so you know most games that reference media have to do it subtly to avoid legal problems, or pay for that image to be there. For example why do you think Nuka cola exists in Fallout? Because if they used Coca Cola, the obvious reference, the company would get their pants sued off.
Some references in games get by because 1. The company who owns the original doesn't care or 2. it's not enough of a ripoff for the company to do anything. A lot of references in GC follow under both of these, but Uno was a direct *design* ripoff, and when you ripoff an IP design you will have problems with it.
Can you imagine people ripping off Mickey Mouse? Disney would have a hayday dolling out lawsuits.
That's the issue with fake information. It travels faster than debunking information.
First of all, do you have a source for the game closing down because of Uno? I don't believe so, you chose your words carefully and said "it's believed".
Secondly, imagine closing down a whole game because of an issue with a single character. They could have changed his design, removed him from the game, blocked access to the character until resolved... But no, let's close the whole money making machine because of that. By the way it's the first time I hear Uno being the reason for the game closing down, the rumour passing around is mostly only that controversy being related to why he won't come back, not as the reason the game closed down.
As for the real controversy, the Fandom wiki has some information on Uno's page[grandchase.fandom.com]:
I pasted the apology note into google translate and got this:
"background image theft scandal", that's all it was.
I mean on that same page you gave me it further goes in to say what inspired Uno's creation, the same image scandal that caused it to get in trouble in the first place, and then the fact that Uno's information and story is pretty much expunged from everything KOG owns. All 20 current characters (including Decanee) appeared in the mobile games, but not Uno. Uno was the only one absent. It's almost as if he never existed. That same site even says as such.
Becareful what I say? A lot of people *do* believe that because that's the only thing we can speculate when they get in trouble for an image based on Uno's rip-off design, and the fact that he hasn't been seen since his debut before. Not to mention the game shut down a mere 2 *MONTHS* after his release? (His release was September 2015, game literally shuts down November)
The apology was an attempt to recover some PR, but as everyone who has ever dealt with business knows, PR image is nothing once you're scandalized. That's exactly what happened. The game was already dying. They were already struggling to keep it afloat by that point, because that's when Private Servers were at their highest.
The last the GC needed was a legal allegation to snatch away everything.
But again that's all just speculation. Can't blame the rest of us who've witnessed it all for putting the puzzle pieces together
Don't get me wrong, I'd love if we get him back, redesigned or as he was. Point I'm making is, highly unlikely. If he didnt make it to the sequel, being one of the most popular characters in the game when he was released, then he probably won't make it back to GCC
Is there a problem with the character?
See above for the back and forth I had with another.
Long story short, legal problems about the character's design, etc etc.
Unless they do a redesign most likely it won't return.
