Hi there, can anyone help me with how to get a hint? I turned on the hints function but can't find how to get a hint. Spelling HINT on the board doesn't do anything

Im having abit of difficulty in the game, I selected to have hints on but i see no way of getting hints. and I have literally found nothing in the way of information on the net to help me, could you explain please?

I was almost finished with the game and I pressed "escape" hoping to get to a sound menu, and it exited the game entirely with no progress saved. I'm talking about, I had just the bottom tiniest left of the screen not gilded and for some reason no progress was saved and pressing "escape" meant just kill the entire game....

I've got one little sliver of gold left to get, which I assume is only one more word. However I cannot for the life of me figure out what it is, and after using the hint about 6 times throughout the hours I played, no amount of waiting seems to trigger the final hint. Since others have also had issues getting the hint system to work, I figured I would jot down all the words the game has noted I've gotten correct. It's a little unfortunate that it doesn't also track what I got wrong and tried already since...

Subtitling would help us non-natives a great deal!
