- Yes, the mandatory condition remains to move on a trip for a couple of days, at least two if I recall correctly.
- No, camps (and any kind of stop or move) won't reset the timer. In fact, the easiest method consists in moving out of the Nest, camping anywhere as soon as possible, gathering herbs, enjoying the scenery or whatever you want to spend time, maybe camping a second time (etc.) up until the spawning process kicks in...
- Yes, the naughty whale may spawn anywhere - at least from what I've seen, for I (obviously) didn't test that on each & every islet. All the game's mechanics, though poorly documented, are usually (meant to be) rather simple...
- Those "shaky ground & noise" animations, as you say, are the first signs of the spawning process. They mean it's engaged... Just keep going, standing iddle or not - it doesn't matter, since it's just a matter of in-game time -, and they'll keep piling up until the 'main dish' will appear.
- No, you don't need to move from one islet to another, but this doesn't seem to change anything : as said, it's just a matter of in-game time, wherever you are or go.
Good luck ! Though it's pretty easy compared to most games around, it's still probably the hardest fight of this one, especially if you haven't spoiled yourself reading around about it...
Thanks! I finally managed to meet it. It kicked my ass on the first try, too... :P But, I got it on round 2. Not sure how it's supposed to be possible without a hefty stack of Balms, mind - you have to keep using Dual Attacks, which leaves you rather open to counter-attacks. And of course, the second phase is a real nightmare, since - like every other enemy in the game who uses that ability - this boss DELIGHTS in shifting between 'vulnerable to direct attacks' and 'will take 30 HP off both your characters if you dare come near' mode the moment AFTER you launch your attack. =_= Ah well! All done now. About all that's left for me to do before hitting the ending is, apparently, playing 'Strip Pick-a-Bobble'. :P
