Where is Kay!

I found Yu with Kay but then I can’t seem to find what to do when you gain control of Yu ....

Anyone knows?

On Nekako, I cannot create a flow bridge because of the critter sitting on top of the flow source. I keep trying to shock it, but it will not budge.

On the second island, there's a flow thread that takes you up to the cliff with the portal. It's a pain in the butt to find — I had to fly around for quite a while to find it.

But your approach was the right one nonetheless : just make sure you use a full charge Flow Burst.
And about the OP's trouble, yes, just move from one islet to another - you'll have to go through three of them, if I remember correctly -, avoiding combats and following flow threads. You'll eventually meet that poor boy ^^...
