[Suggestion] Research: Allow queuing
Please consider allowing us to queue several researches which allows us to continue seamless even if we are not watching for a couple minutes.

Bonuspoints if we can click a deeper down tech and it adds all prerequisites for it automatically.

Not the highest priority but certainly a nice-to-have.

Fully agree.

Absolutely need to be able to queue research.. or at least be able to set it from somewhere remote from the individual machine panel.

You can press G at any time to see the research panel and select options. No need to use the machine panel at all.

Yes you can press G and that works very well, but you do have to stop what you are doing and then try to remember what research you need next then go back to building whatever the hell it was ( I usually have forgotten by then) ... I had more to say but have now forgotten what! Getting old is not fun!

I think that would be an useful feature, but IMO it should be upgrade to the research center or the amount of queued research should depend on the amount of the research servers the player had built.

no, this is a purely UI convenience feature and should not be an unlockable upgrade. Down that path lies "you have to waste time on boring chores/doing things the hard way so that you can properly appreciate how much better the upgrade is!", which is a very fast way to kill the fun in any kind of incremental progress/automation game but especially one where each new unlock leads to a new thing to build (i.e. a new potential chore rather than an immediately useful reward.)

It's bad enough that you have multiple steps between you + new building already (research the thing, get the materials, go out to build the thing -- although Foundry's construction system makes that last one less painful); adding extra layers of clicking through the UI makes the delay worse but doesn't make the final reward any more satisfying.

I just build a ton of research servers so that when I do remember to start a new research after the previous one finishes it burns through all my buffered science packs super fast. Hardly ideal, but yeah, research queue is sorely needed.
Ryan 31 Thg05, 2024 @ 9:54am
I agree queueing is needed. Until that is added, make sure to use logistics containers to buffer all the science packs you are generating before they go to the servers, and add more servers than your assemblers can keep up with. Then you wont effectively lose any research time in between techs as the assemblers will still run 100% of the time and they are the bottleneck rather than the servers.

Basically what JimboTCB said.

+1

Perhaps it could be solved gameplay-wise so it doesn't make research OP that you just queue everything and don't interact with it at all, have it so the number of queued items depends on how many research servers you have (and then of course you need to supply each of them with the science packs).

agreed too

I didn't know about the G key, thats useful. but +1 still.
