Noone on earth would have mind animation curves set to linear for v0.1.
Nah can't release it, we're tweaking animation curves, improving smoke vfx and before that were busy on mod support...
Don't get me wrong thoses are great and needed but that's some final tweaking for...an already released game.
What's gonna be next devblog ? Adding a lifecycle for the plants or a rework on the clouds that take in consideration a noisemap for the wind.
Whatever they decide, i don't want to see the next one.
You just added +1 year to the works with single message... Clouds rework. Ha-ha-ha.
I do agree in general. While people add or keep item in their wishlist, devs read it as "You do good job, keep on". Only after people start to delete the game devs will read as "we do smth wrong and need to change attitude to the project".
This game can and will stand on its own if you just roll with it; there are FAR WORSE games on Steam; and while Satisfactory LOOKS better -- I LIKE this game more for the freedom it offers me in building.
So just GO with it. ROLL IT OUT; you're shooting yourselves in the foot! We got BIG GAMES coming out all this year, this is actually a decent lul before the end of August. So please just get it out there. 100% agree with this thread.
Either get it out there or UPDATE the itchio version so I can fiddle and test the stuff. I'm feeling REALLY left out right now, and it's starting to bug me.
PS. You may think why tf they would add the curves instead of releasing it, or adding something more important, but small details like this really helps the game look more polished, therefore higher probability for a more positive reception.
From the game store page :
Why choose early access ?
“With Early Access the community will help us to create a better game since player feedback is crucial for complex simulation games. We will listen to your feedback and you may influence the development. Additionally your early support helps us to make the most of the potential we see in FOUNDRY.”
For How long will it be in Early Access ?
“We don't know yet, we don't want to commit to a certain date. The game will leave Early Access when the game has satisfied our high expectations for quality and amount of content. We expect to stay in Early Access for more than a year.”
One of the main reasons for Early Access is to get feedback from the community. We will always consider your input to shape a great game together.
There you go ... you got our feedback : 3 years of closed alpha to maybe 1 day comming soon get out in early access ... by the time it comes out technology will have updgrade ( satisfactory had a pain in the butt to switch from ue4 to ue5... but still the player base could play the game already in ue4 with minors functionality as it's ... EARLY ACCESS therefore peoples can excuse some bugs here and there get familiar with the mechanics, leave feedbacks.
Keep it in closed alpha release it in "when it won't have anymore bugs and will be more polished" years when everybody will have completly forget about that game.
There's nothing to early access anymore since it's been in developement for 3 years already, you don't want the community involved into it's developement. You don't want to do like everyone an early access. Suit yourself but don't wonder why peoples are so mean with there evaluations and can't tolerate a little bug here and there.
And since i don't want to do 300 post and it's kinda related :
They seem to listen to the wrong peoples.
Why is factorio the ref and is still played and enjoyed by so many peoples ? -complex content added by the mods. So seeing stuff like that got me even more worry for the future of that game :
"some things were just a little excessive in complexity" -Really ? Didn't faced any in the demo.
" having four different ways to make Xenoferrite Plates was just too much" -No it was interesting 'cause each were getting you more yield which was mandatory as you were progressing and your input of ingot were getting low instead of doubling the number of building in copy paste mode you could dig into not that much more complex way of making your ingots.
"While they (solar pannel) seem like the obvious choice for easy to use energy at start, most people just had an extremely frustrating first couple nights with powerless factories." -weird peoples... guess they had miss the part telling them about the biomass burner... That was indeed frustrating to gather manually some biomass ... which is why you work toward solar pannel asap ... logic...
" waiting until conveyor belts and building blocks (foundation) are crafted is no fun" -had automated them at start and never have been waiting for some... always had a chest full of them.
(too many mechanics introduced at once)
"solved this by changing the depth of the first underground ore vein, so that it can be reached with regular drilling instead of requiring advanced technology" -hmhm so the idea is to get rid of any complexity...
Different way of doing that without removing complexity could be :
-Short ingame video showing/explaining the new concept.
-Have some building already placed that demonstrate the concept in action.
-Have released the game in early access and let youtubers of that kind of game build and show some more simple way you had not thought of doing.
What's the point of a factory game if you don't scratch your head a bit... It's as rewarding as completing a tiers of elevator in satisfactory with the give command to get the needed ressource...
Oh yeah; and it's quite alright really. I actually do recommend it. Shame it's not on Steam.
