No resolution, but found source of infamous 'black screen.'

Note: The cause may vary from computer to computer, this is the source of the black screen on my computer.
It had taken me a long time to figure out how to troubleshoot computer programs (I don't know how I did it, but I did), but when I did it told me that the game could not initialize graphics module under Direct3D. I don't know what Direct3D is either, so if someone helped me out with this it would be greatly appriciated.
I have also noticed that the first report of the black screen on the disscusion hub was February 4th, almost a year since the game came out, so it must be a bad patch/update that makes it unplayable on some computers.
