Gamespot gave this a bad review because "the NPCs were mean to me"

I'm seriously thinking of buying this game. It has some "meh" reviews, but the REASONS for the reviews being "meh" are some of the worst I've seen since...well, since about last week.

I actually had to read the Gamespot review several times because I couldn't bring myself to believe it was real and not just satire.

The reviewer actually docked the game about 3 or 4 points JUST because the NPCs in the game said mean things to his character and did not say nice words instead. I didn't even know that was something people had problems with.

In my 30+ years of gaming, I've never heard that reason given for why someone didn't like a game lol

I've not seen SkillUp and ACG rave about a game like this for 12 months, SkillUp in particular is hard to please so for him to love it says a lot.

I bought the game and played for about four-five hours now. So far, the best things about the game are graphics (so darn amazing!) and...well the graphics.

The story is kinda meh, performance with DX12 is just unplayable (stuttering) for me even with a RTX 3080 and it's just a big run-there-fight-repeat on the whole game.

That said, there is something there that I like. But I just can't put my finger on it. Something that is drawing me into it. Perhaps a distant promise of something better juuuust around the corner. Or a new cool weapon. Or even some relateable story backing up all the action.

I don't want to stomp to hard on the game. The small dev-team has done a nice job and the voice acting is overall really good (and that is important to me). I just feel the game could have more variation than just running and shooting.

Toughts anyone?

Remember when a gamespot writer docked a Pokémon game because it had “too much water” when it was set on islands? That same writer then docked days gone for having “too many white zombies” when the game explained that the virus turned their skin color white.

If you are reading gamespot or other Silicon Valley sites you are dumbing down your brain.

The game is really good except everyone from integrated graphics all the way to a high end 3090 rig are having freezing/stutters when explosions or large attacks go off.

Except fanboys, they don't have this issue.
