I actually played recent builds on older drivers that are older then the recommended one and it still works just not ideal for performance.

Also consider doing a "Clean" NVIDIA install from the Custom install option from the NVIDIA panel.
Please remember that like a Car your computer even with newer hardware replacements needs servicing to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.
