Space Haven

Instructions for modding are confusing...
So the workshop says it needs the mod loader, with steps on how to use, click subscribe, yada yada.. but then the "official" mod link by the developers point to a Moddb page....

okay?

So I'm assuming to use Nexus mods I need the non steam workshop or not? Instructions don't say.

Furthermore, you NEVER, ANYWHERE tell the user WHERE to put the mods... Kind of important yea?

I click the "Mod Folder" but putting mods in there zipped or unzipped doesn't work... The "Mod" folder also is empty of the 2 mods I downloaded from Workshop, which DO actually show in the modloader list..

I've given up.

Yeah, I agree modding this game is super confusing.

Maybe game Dev or some mod authors could record a short video how to start modding this game. This would make modding more accessible, new items or building with XML mod type should be fairly easy to do.

I used Stellaris mod tutorial to do some mods for Star Trek: Infinite, same game engine. But we need to know how to start. 😁

I wasn't talking about modding, I was talking about using mods. Or modding the game as in using mods for the game. Not creating mods.
Hi there!

The instructions are here:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/979110/discussions/6/3759978783503254110/

If you want to play through Steam Workshop follow Option 1, Steam workshop link and the instructions are laid out step by step on how to play with mods.

Ignore the other stuff about nexus mods, etc. as it is only meant if you don't want to use Steam workshop.

Did you read at all?

How about trying to be actually useful next time. As I clearly stated I already read that, and its ambiguous statements, and it doesn't even say where to place Nexus mods, and the intuitive way doesn't seem to work.

But thanks for posting the link, I was talking about I guess?

I'm sorry for sounding aggravated, but it seems like nobody ever freaking reads a damn thing anymore, and just assumes, then posts complete bunk that's not useful or integral to anything that was written...

It's not to much to ask or expect that if you respond, you actually read what was said, rather than assumed.
For most mods you download from nexus. The contents of the mod archive goes into the mods folder. The "open mods folder" button in the loader should open the correct folder in windows explorer. You need to unzip the zip archive you download to get the contents. If the mod uses another compression that is not natively support by windows, you may need to install additional software. Some mods have more specific instructions and you should follow those instead.

If you use mods from steam workshop, you should never have to worry about where to install the mods. Mods that are downloaded from the workshop are not in the mods folder, they are in the workshop folder somewhere else on disk.

OK. I was trying to help. If I misunderstood then please state so in a respectful manner. It was simply a misunderstanding.

From my point of view: What you wrote in the opening post is not clear at all in terms of what you really seek and what you want to use to play with mods.

1. You are writing on Steam. (Which OK, nothing wrong there but adds to assumptions)
2. You mentioned subscribing to mods, which are only mentioned in step 1 for Steam.
2. You write about a Moddb page (Which the instructions say nothing about)

So it all threw me off and I assumed wrong.

You are right though the instructions link, which really is a step back from github release page is not present in the instructions post. I will add it there now. This one:

https://github.com/Spacehaven-modding-tools/spacehaven-modloader

There is a getting started section, which should help.
