I often complained about positive faction with NPCs not having any positive impact, aside from visiting their construct. Its good to see this was addressed. The only thing I hope to see is more patterns for factions to create flavor- such as I feel civilians should not have access to or be able to sell plasma weapons. And if possible patterns within their stats such as a civilian should not have high level wep skill. Pirates I feel should be like current- random mix of skill and weaponry- maybe the only faction that should have plasma is military. Slavers would be stun based weapons. Cult would have good researchers. Andorid maybe high skill in construction and industry. Civilains high skilled at botany and medical. Perhaps each faction could have a hard coded bonuses to certain skills (such as military gets +10% bonus in perception and often skilled in weapons and pilot) and these bonus would cross over to those recruited.

Or.. civilians have a high rate for more peaceful personalities.
The pirates would have high rate for bloodlust.
Slavers- psychopaths/lazy
Military- spacefarers/hero
android- smart and/or hardworking/iron stomach.
Cult- charming/minimalist.
(there would be like a 10% chance for random personality according to faction, civilians would have higher rate for random personality)

I agree, this is a good idea. I recently sent gifts to the Military to up the reputation in order to be able to hire staff - hoping to get a couple of good fighters for my boarding team and was disappointed to find that the people offered were not particularly militaristic.
