Evolving Alien Core
Research done with the Hive Core as they are looted from derelics, but evolving? Do i need to get my ship infested to gather these?

Yes, and it is a rare drop like the hive cores. Good luck.

Well ... what else to expect, i call that bad design, if i have to intentionally get my ship infested
Thanks for that information

i dont get the point to doing this research. i dont see a benefit for me.

20% grow is a nice to have (follow up research)

Yes, the research is great, but the way to get there is problematic. It would be good if players could, in rare cases, find evolving alien cores on derelicts.

There is a also chance to even find them on derelict ships. They are sitting there with an exclamation mark and have to be shot manually. Be careful though they will explode and infect nearby crew even while wearing space suits.
Try to have only one crewmember nearby when dealing with them: shot them from a distance and run the person away as soon as it dies.

I had one at some point, but to add insult to injury, it was butchered at the autopsy table before I turned that off :( So be careful.

Same goes for the rouge bot research, if you have already built a Robot Workbench, disable the dismantling until your researchers used the parts on the Research Workbench.

Looks like just bad luck for me then, didn't found anything on about 20-30 ships

yup... but as it's the only thing other than slave facility left on the tech tree (for want of 1 more), I already have 20 large grow units in two greenhouse modules, making my ship an overstocked travelling farmer's market. at this point, the bonus is nice, but superfluous.

these and chimp bot rubble need to be tweaked (i'm only playing at medium-450 days in)

-with about >100 crew and >20 refugee&prisoners it is a nice to have, less space for feeding
-cause i NEVER got it from the derelict (and i refuse to infest my ships) i had to edit it into my storage via the savegame file :/

You can find these on derelicts too. And an infestation isn't a big deal at all.
Just pop them with one crew member from long distance and make sure nobody else is in the room. Just a bit micro management to handle this briefly.

Still looks like bad game design. There should be a clear way to stun or capture these things.
It can be aquired from Exodus fleet as completed research though.
I've seen it being sold. (Or was it the 20% growth?:D)
exodus fleet can offer everything, even things where you dont have the prequisites (got my lvl 3 gen with that before even research 1st gen of it) .
but you are total misleaded Nord, look at the date before the last poster, thast years before alpha 20 unstable was even thought of....

Yep necro can trick us all:P
But GhostK might not know about Exodus.
Hell even i should not know about it, since i barely engaged. Just did a few tests and that is all but did not even got them to fly away from the starting system.
If you are playful you let your ship be infested.

Mostlikely an obsolet concern with the new exodus fleet, but you can find them on relicts too.

There is a chance that they infest the relict instead of flying towards your ship. I never had problems to get the research done. Getting the robots felt more anoying to me because they can hit hard early game ;-)
