Missions.
My experience with missions is basically non-existant. it's simply not worth dropping everything and go off and do a mission with a time limit. The rewards are okay, IF you do them without the time limit, or rather take them on when you want to

However right now, I am not notified that there is a mission to do, until, I'm well into mining asteroids, or salvaging a wreck, or both. I make more profit to undertake these operations than I do doing missions, by far, so there is really no incentive to do these. I would kindly suggest to the devs to rethink how these missions are introduced and carried out. While I like the idea of missions, I just don't see myself doing them, as they currently stand.

agreed, rewards for missions are worthless.

As a general rule yes.

Some of them are good.

Medical aid.
Asteroid base building.
Collect from the derelict etc...

But the fly there and do this missions are generally simply not worth it as they interfere with your resource gathering route and they use up hyperspace fuel which is the most expensive resource in the game and the defacto currency for me.

Many of the missions do not have a time limit for completing it.

The 5 hour limit, is on accepting the mission. If you for example take the "haul cargo" mission from a farm base. The 5 hour time limit is on picking up the cargo pod. After picking up the pod, you can go mine for a few days if you want and just drop off the cargo when you pass by that system later.

Okay that I was unaware of that, typically I see a 5 hour limit from the moment they offer it, and I think that's way to short a time when I'm in the middle of doing something else.
Thanks for clearing that up at least.

Some of the missions are ok, some are just strange. For example missions that require you to bring certain items from a derelict more often than not require you to hand over items that are actually more valuable than the reward. If they want a separate mission from "bring a valueless quest item from derelict" the reward should scale with the value of items to hand over. Also if they want missions to bring someone from a hostile ships, the game needs non-lethal weapons.

Mission within the system are usually okay as long as they boost your rep with the factions. Cause you won't get rich doing them. most are a negative net. But the ones to catch or capture someone in another sector just don't pay. I use three times the reward just to get there. And if I'm going to take the mission on a i'll get them later basis, then make it a bounty board instead of a mission. When they transmit the "mission message" instead It goes directly to a bound board. then if I find that person later, I can check the board for bounties. Maybe have more than one faction offer different prices for the same bounty's return. And have the board work backwards as well. when I take prisoners, I can tell if any have a bounty available.
Either way I still get more for selling them as slaves or back to their own people then I get for turning them in, so gotta fix that.

I agree, seems to me that for these longer runs should have a cash bounty, would make more sense for long travel times, not to mention the combat to get the guy.

well I just tried 3 capture missions and all the perps died instead. so now they are all fails and my rep with the military is in the tank. They need a surrender option when you have a bounty for them to "hand over said pirate if they want to live."

That being the case, it should be "Delivered dead or alive", I did do two or three missions recently, but I don't do the bounties, Now I see why I don't. Overall I just don't see the point to bother with them really.

Are you sure about this ?

I have done a number of "capture" missions for the military alliance. Some of them failed, either becourse the target was too well armed and I had to run away, or the person you need to capture ended up dead. But none of those failed missions have resulted in any reputation loss.

Most missions (besides give medical support) do indeed seem pointless ( too little gain).

I'm also never taking another refugee.

Hours of game time trying to find a cult ship to offload my four free loaders. Finally found one, it won't take my refugees because already full...

... I'm full too... Take my damn refugees. And you get barely any reward for the dozens of days they end up on board eating my food and breathing my air.

Missions, refugees... Not any more. No point.

Lol! Seems more like a relief to have them gone, and believe me I know what you mean. In my last game, I picked up 9 Slavers as refugees, when their ship got wrecked. I knew these guys as I had traded some goods with them before. ( not people)

Anyways as it went, I traveled through two two whole area's on the overall Starmap amd i still could'nt get rid of them, those 9 refugees really put a heavy strain on my resources. I got fed up and had to backtrack back to near my starting point to get rid of them with some slavers I knew they were in, but it was a very long annoying trip back.
