If you are going to include a laundry. Then you need to include clothing. Give fiber and cloth more of a use then just making soft blocks.

They could add different clothes for different jobs. Coveralls for engineering and maintenance. Medical garb for doctors. Smocks or aprons for botanists. Maybe even light body armor or blood stain resistant clothing for security people.

Perhaps even different versions of space suits for different roles. An armored suit for boarding. Or a suit with increased O2 capacity for salvaging. Maybe even a lighter more comfortable suit for working in sealed fabrication or growing areas.

Like in Sims, when it runs out the npc
needs to take a shower. It goes down faster if the character is working more, poops their pants, etc. Just like the food meter. Laundry would be cool too.

Might be moot if your crew is French.

But seriously, I'm hearing that water management is a big deal and that some players are finding it a small nightmare to keep water. Is this true, if so, wouldn't it be a nearly bad thing to have a laundromat or showers when your crew are basically reduced to being Fremen?

Fremen have it easy.
At least their stillsuits process poop.

In Space Haven, crew that don't make it to the bathroom in time take a massive hit to their comfort level for a LONG time. They also keep everyone in close contact with them in the same boat.

I had to lock the miscreants out of the sleeping area just so the remainder of the crew could get some rest.

The only problem with uniforms, like overalls and aprons, is when you have a small crew, everyone is a multitasker. Every time someone changes a job, they would have to change clothes.

Your guys might.
On my crew, uniforms denote PRIMARY responsibilities. They perform other tasks, but are the go to guys for their specialty.

[Actually, what my crew wears just helps me tell them apart at a distance. I know what their skills are, we've been running this ship that long.]

No wonder. Some joker among my crew has labeled recycled water as "Squirt". Now I'm like...dysentery.

If crew can s**t their pants so also they should be able to take shower and use spare clothing and those with s**t stains should be put into washing machine ;)
