Character titles and roles?
Will this ever come into game?
Originaly some time back there was feedback that this was considered, but appears that it was no longer workes on after enemy captains were introduced.
Was this droped completely or is there a chance that it will come at some point?

It would be nice for the crew to finaly get a structure and roles. For the moment the only thing there is, is the Doctor role, but that one is also not openly titled.
Roles would be very interesting for us who RP a lot.

Somekindnof bonuses associated with titles would be nice.

Captain - room wide bonus to console operators making them work as if they were 2 levels higher.

Security chief - In defense ship combat provides +20% resistance to surender.

Chief scientist - boosts research consoles speed, chance of success or decreases the required quantity of points, or gives a chance to produce 2 points instead of one.

Hydroponics manager - increases resistance of hydroponic stations to cold, heat and gas hazards and may improve requirements on water.

Spetznaz officer - Troops fire and walk faster in offensive crew combat, armor has higher chance to resist penetration. Enemy surenders faster.

Comissar - No one from allied units surenders in area of influence of this unit.
Slaves and prisoners are more obedient and less prone to revolt, but causes big discomfort to slaves, prisoners and refugees.

Head of maintenance - Ship repairs have a chance to be instant. Devices have lower chance to break components and instead will require just a maintenance. Solar panel have higher output.

Engineering leader - Ships hulls has higher chance to resist penetration. Ship resist space heat/cold better = less stress on thermal regulators.

Psychologist expert - Provides higher resistance to siren events. Allows faster rehabilitation. Improves crew resiatance to panic and breakdowns. Will seek out and attempt to calm down crew in breakdown. Very slowly will work towards removal of stockholm syndrome, aliens haunt dreams and other defects. Will require a couch and chair for regular aittinga with affected crew.

Space marine - Boost to morale, health, attack rate and accuracy but huge handicap on all other professions. Requires equipment to maintain "marine readiness" status (shooting range, bench, etc...).

Production foreman - facilities work faster. Decreases chances of failure of crew using facilities. Decreases facilities production of hazard effects.

Just daydreaming, but would make the game more interesting.

Especialy if the enemy has units that have this roles or have skills that are required for this roles this making imprisonment and recruiting that much more important to keep an eye on.
In combat, if the enemy has security officers or comissars, you know that you must neutralise them first as they increase the overall combat dificulty.
If a spetznaz led group boards you, you know that you cant engage the boarders with just a single or small team as there is high risk of fast defeat, but must be more tactical about such engagement.

This would make a lot of things more interesting in my opinion, but what do you think?
