How to increase ship points via file editing?
Is there a way to increase ship points by editing the files? Similar to the method of editing the system points. I just want to upgrade my 2x2 to a 2x3 but cannot do it without downgrading first, which is tedious.

This is what I found on reddit.

"You are going to have to modify the game files, you can start by navigating to your 'Space Haven' game folder, locating your save file, and editing it with a text editor. Once in the text file, CTRL+F and search your ships name, and locate two line below:

<ship sx="56" sy="56" idCnt="36289" ox="0" oy="160" sid="3265" fog="false" real="1" ndb="0" sname="SHIPNAME"

The x and y coordinates are how wide and tall your ship is. Modifying this number in intervals of 28 will increase the size. You'll also have to change the values for the "ROOF" search for 'roof' and it should pop up. Make sure the values match and that your ship will not overlap another ship and object once you do this. BACK UP THE SAVE FILE. You can make your ship 3x3, or 4x4. This used to increase the system points but that's tied to a buildable item now. If you want a massive fleet, start from scratch and create several ship canvases that are 1x1. Then find the text file and increase their sizes to whatever you wish. Be careful and test after each modification. Good luck and have fun!"

Did the same. 3x3 and it was good.
Be aware that if you edit the save to create a 3x3 ship then you'll have used 9/8 ship points which means you can't do any of the base building missions as that 9th tile is used for claiming the asteroids you build on.

You also won't be able to do the new Exodus Fleet stuff as one of the early missions is to build them a base.

But that's kind of weird, isn't it? After all, stations are not ships. Does it make sense for any station to be costing fleet points? Once you jump away, it's gone forever. It will never be part of your fleet.

The fleet point economy does seem a bit underbaked. I mean, you can allocate your maximum fleet size from day 1, so you technically have maximum fleet power on day 1. It might make more sense to have fleet points as a progression mechanic. Start with 2 fleet points, gain more from scoring key objectives, gain the capacity for a bigger fleet as a result.

There are also allies and stuff that can fly with you. They are a type of fleet resource and their ship points are at your disposal, aren't they? Maybe it makes sense for those allies to have a similar limit when they are part of your fleet. Think of it kind of like a "maximum hyperspace window" limit. You can only jump so many ships in one clump of fleet, or something like that.

Going beyond the scope of this thread, that "hyperspace window" thingy might actually be pretty cool. Instead of hyperspace warp determined by tonnage per ship, it could be determined by the combined hyperspace capacity of your fleet. But that's more of a suggestion really, might be fun to think about.
