Can't find ship to turn in mission

I have to turn in a prisoner to the Military Alliance but the mission says the ship is in an unknown sector even though it says it's in the Mega Walkabout Territory. I've looked in the neighboring clusters and still nothing. I'm think it got destroyed by the other factions or something? Any suggestions?

Once you get to the cluster where the ship should be check out the map, it should show the Target.
Also check around whether the cluster has another solar system, sometimes it is there, and you might think it is just another hyperjump point until you thouroughly discover it.

It seems I simply hung in the cluster and it eventually stopped at my location ...

Did any kind of ship arrive?
Very very very rarely, the target ship might have already been defeated and the person you need to capture has been captured by another faction.
For some reason merchants really like to do that and mess up your missions:)
