How does the Exodus fleet mine ore?

So I'm the pathfinder and the Exodus fleet is in critical need or ore (ore storage wipeout) and energium (energium storage explosion). I'm in the sector with the 'Exodus fleet ore resource' icon and 5 'Mega asteroid field cloud' icons next to the system. I called in the Exodus fleet and they're with me in the sector. So, how do I make them mine the ore? Presumably I'll also need to find an energium 'cloud' for them to mine too.

They will do it automatically if in the right sector with the resource. Will take some 5-10 turns in the starmap for them to do it.
